The Garden of England (that’s Kent, in case you didn’t get the memo) is yours to explore from Lillyroos, a family-friendly site in the countryside that surrounds the seaside town of Deal. The location makes this spot equally suited to watersports enthusiasts (the coast is about 10 minutes’ drive away), keen countryside hikers and cyclists (with paths leading directly off the site) and history buffs, who can visit the medieval town of Sandwich (10 minutes) and the city of Canterbury (half an hour). With a kitchen preparing home-cooked breakfasts (featuring eggs laid by the resident chickens and freshly brewed coffee) and evening meals, plus a cosy bar serving local beers and ciders (which you can sip while lounging on a hay bale), this is also a sweet spot for anyone who is not quite to abandon all creature comforts. Speaking of food… Barbecues are allowed, and you can get your provisions in Deal or at the farmers’ market just down the A258 (a short drive or a five-minute walk), which also has a café. There’s a big-screen TV if you (or a member of your party) just cannot go without your footie while on holiday, and a play area for the kids. This is a quiet site: no shouting or singing after 10pm, and no music (whether live or amplified), so leave your beloved ukulele at home. Dogs are welcome, but do let the site owners know in advance if your canine companion is coming along. Amenities on site include toilet and shower blocks, a washing-up area, ice-pack freezing facilities and recycling points.

喜欢 Pitches were very well laid out. A lovely welcome. The team made you feel part of the site. The bar area (open at weekends only when we were there) was amazing. Rustic and cosy with plenty of room. Due to it being out of season! Entertainment includes bar area,food, BBQ , live music.

喜欢 The staff and owner was very friendly. Lovely pictures. The toilet and washing up bit was very clean and tidy .has got three toilets and two showers for each sex .but OK for us cos we was only there a few days.could have done with the showers being bit hotter water just warm. They have a nice pub and food on site. But was closed cos they was getting ready for a big wedding the next day .so we did not mind .lovely farmshop next door .and pub just across the rd.

Animals, dogs, nice people, clean showers and toilets and well maintained grounds.

Bar area, outside seating all looked great!

喜欢 We had a lovely time at Lillyroos Campsite. It’s a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle, relax and enjoy a bit of peace and quiet. The campsite has a lovely atmosphere and is ideal for anyone who enjoys getting outdoors and spending time in nature.

It’s a great spot for a camping break, whether you’re looking for a relaxing weekend away or a base to explore the local area. We would certainly consider visiting again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a pleasant camping getaway.

喜欢 We had a really enjoyable stay at Lillyroo’s Campsite in Sandwich, Kent.
We visited towards the end of the season, so the campsite was very quiet with only a few other campers around. Rather than being a downside, we actually found it wonderfully peaceful and relaxing. It was lovely to have somewhere where we could just slow down and enjoy the surroundings without the usual hustle and bustle.
The toilets and showers were clean and well looked after, with both hot and cold showers available.
The host was very polite and welcoming, and had a great sense of humour, which always makes a stay that little bit more enjoyable. He also doubles up as the barman in the onsite bar, so there was somewhere to enjoy a drink and have a bit of a chat.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at Lillyroo’s. A friendly, relaxed campsite with a lovely peaceful atmosphere. We would definitely consider coming back, especially for a quiet break away from the busier campsites.

不喜欢 To be honest, there wasn't a lot we could fault during our stay. Because we visited right at the end of the season, the campsite was very quiet, so some of the facilities and the onsite bar had limited activity. However, we actually enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, so this wasn't really a problem for us.

Perhaps a little more information about the local area and things to do nearby would have been useful, especially for first-time visitors.

Overall, though, these are only minor points and didn't take away from what was a very pleasant and relaxing stay.

You can learn all about the area’s coal-mining past at the Kent Mining Museum at Bettshanger Country Park (five minutes’ drive), where there are also walking and cycling paths for all abilities, from a family-friendly tarmac track to some pretty challenging routes for experienced mountain bikers. Kids can also have a go at archery and orienteering. With its vast pebbly beach, two historic castles and long promenade skirted by a cycle path, Deal is a great destination for families. Grab some fish and chips and sit on Walmer Green (on Sunday afternoons, in the summer, there is live music at the bandstand), or stroll along the pier, keeping an eye on the Timeball Tower’s regular drop. Whether you’re into vintage rides (at colourful Dreamland amusement park) or modern art exhibitions (at Turner Contemporary), Margate (half an hour) has something for you. There’s also a sandy beach with a tidal pool, and an Old Town dotted with independent shops and cafés.
