A five-acre site set between the pretty Kent villages of Headcorn and Smarden, Go Glamp is a friendly, family-run sort of place that welcomes kids and dogs. It has a chilled vibe so relaxation is never going to be a problem – and your privacy is pretty much ensured, thanks to there being plenty of space around the camping fields. Communal facilities include a kitchen area for food prep and washing up, and refrigerators to keep your food (and drink, very important) chilled. Sparkling-clean toilets and spacious warm showers are found adjacent to the car park. Mobile phone charging points are available, but please warn any teens that internet access is limited. Barbecues and firepits are available for hire, and buckets of wood can be bought for a small charge. Pick up essentials from the convenience stores in Headcorn (five minutes’ drive), or you can ditch the car and walk to the pubs in Smarden (half an hour) if grilling up supper isn’t on the agenda. A trainline runs along the back of the site, bound to London and back, where guests can spy on the occasional Pullman and steam trains (trains run twice per hour and not between midnight and 6am). Guests can also often spot light aircraft displays, hot air balloons and parachutists and wing-walkers from the nearby aerodrome. For your extra safety, the glampsite is secured with automatically closing electric gates; an entry code will be given to you on arrival. If you have any queries or problems, do ask the owners, who live on-site.

喜欢 The hosts, Alan & Kim are incredibly warm and welcoming. The campsite is immaculate, with lots of personal touches, great facilities, great location, and the choice of bell tents, yurt or shepherd’s hut are accommodating to every glamping style.

The big cats roaring, and the wing walker planes & skydiving on the horizon fascinated the kids. The site is so safe and has so much room for the kids to run around in the fresh air within eyesight.

There’s been a few upgrades this year, which have made the campsite even more special. But genuinely, what makes us come back year after year are the hosts. You’ll see that feedback consistently, because Alan & Kim truly are wonderful, and nothing is too much trouble. We absolutely love this campsite, and we’re already booking again for next year

喜欢 Lovely campsite! Flat ground so no sloping airbeds! Toilets nice and clean, and not far away. Small field but pitches not squashed in. Lions next door roaring in the night was a surprise but quite exciting!! Tasty pizzas, great service and the complimentary evening pimms was a welcome treat! Thank you for a lovely stay!

喜欢 Such a amazing place. Alan and Kim are amazing hosts. Anything you want or need just ask.Site was clean and tidy. Spotless infact. Loved layin in bed last thing at night and in the morning listening to the lions roat from the Big Cat Sanctuary. Tony the pony was so funny too. Will definately be going back.

If you want to get active on your glamping break, the whole family can have a runaround on treetop ropes at Go Ape Bedgebury, or go dinghy sailing and climb the inflatable courses at Bewel Water (both half an hour’s drive). Slow things down with nature rambles around the arboretum at Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest (35 minutes). Plenty to do with animals as the focus too: see silverback gorillas, big cats and African elephants in semi-wild enclosures at Howletts Wildlife Park (50 minutes), or take a jeep safari at Port Lympne Safari Park (35 minutes) to spy on rhinos and stately giraffes. If you have younger kids in tow, let them have a cuddle with the friendly inmates at Buttercups Sanctuary for Goats (20 minutes). Canterbury Cathedral (50 minutes) may be calling to history lovers, who can visit the scene of Thomas Beckett’s murder in 1170, before having an amble around the city centre’s half-timbered streets to the porcelain collections in ornate Beaney House of Art and Knowledge. The medieval cathedral and Norman-era castle in Rochester (40 minutes) are both open to tour, or you can do a spot of window shopping on the historic high street.
