Campfires, countryside scenery and keeping an eye out for passing wildlife – it's all about the simple things at Lepe Meadows Campsite. This site is on the edge of the New Forest National Park, a mile from the Hampshire coast at Lepe beach, so it’s in prime position for a break packed with such activities. The focus is on the simple things at the site, too – there’s a back to basics vibe here, with facilities limited just to showers, toilets and a washing-up area along with firepit hire and wood sales. If you’re planning a campfire or barbecue, pick up supplies from local farmers’ markets or the shop five minutes’ drive away. Pitches themselves are mostly on flat grass, with the site team on hand at most times if you need any help or advice during your stay. That might include tips on how to spend your days in these splendid surroundings – locals generally know best when it comes to finding good places to eat, top beaches, excellent walking trails and activities like swimming, canoeing and sailing. For practical matters, the village of Blackfield is about a mile away for express supermarkets, cashpoints, a petrol station, takeaways, a chemist and a local pub.

喜欢: Nice welcome, rules stated clearly.

Loved that we could pitch where we wanted & the pitches are large.

Handy to be able to cheat having pizza & breakfast baps.

Everyone we spoke to were friendly.

不喜欢: Lad campers staying up talking loudly all night, but they were told by the people running the site to be more courteous the following night.

喜欢: Really liked the location, a good back to basics camp site with all you need available. Very spacious and peaceful with shops a short drive away. Beach cafe was nice, the only thing that let it down slightly was no breakfast being cooked due to lack of people taking up the offer. Other than this small point, we would definitely go again.

不喜欢: Nothing other than what we mentioned above re breakfast, but we understand why it was not being served.

喜欢: Very well organised site, with absolutely loads of space and incredibly clean and well maintained facilities. Friendly staff visible and available all day and locked gates at night made us feel a lot safer to allow the children to play whilst we made dinner, etc. Fab little camp shop. Minutes away from the beach. Picturesque. One of the best campsites we've stayed at!

喜欢: Large field and not over crowded. Office/ ship open 8.30-8.30. Off needed with ice, drinks, wood etc.. friendly staff. Really clean. Lovely eco toilets that didn’t smell despite the heat!

不喜欢: Only having showers available 7.30-10.30a and 4.30pm-8,30pm! I understand this was when the generator on to guarantee hot water (and shower was good) but roped off So no option of even a cold shower! If camp site busier not sure would fit everyone in and do not like to be limited to when i can have a shower

喜欢: Friendly helpful staff, relaxed atmosphere, clean and well maintained toilets and warm showers. Great location on edge of forest, with plenty to do in the area.

Lepe Meadows Campsite is a prime site for diving into the New Forest National Park – follow the woodland trails on foot, two wheels or horseback, or get up close with the wild animals at the New Forest Wildlife Park a 20-minute drive away. For a touch of history, head to the Beaulieu Estate (15 minutes) for the Palace House and Gardens, the National Motor Museum and the ruins of the 13th-century abbey. The spectacular gardens at Exbury are 10 minutes away. Kids not so enthused? There’s plenty in the area to keep them entertained: head to Paultons Park, Home of Peppa Pig World (35 minutes) or Moors Valley Country Park & Forest (45 minutes) for a Go Ape course, a Gruffalo trail and a miniature steam railway. If you want to get back to a more urban vibe, the port city of Southampton is about 35 minutes away, for wanders around the historic Old Town and the city’s galleries and museums. If you can only do three things during your day trip, make for the home of the Spitfire at Solent Sky Museum, explore the model of the Titanic at SeaCity Museum, and head back in time at the spectacular Tudor House and Garden.
