添加您的业务详细信息When all you want is to get away on an adventure under canvas, Castle How Wild Camping might be the answer for you. How does the sound of wild camping on a (fairly level) farm field sound? Set on a working farm 15 minutes’ drive from Sedbergh, this is a back-to-basics site with no amenities and no open fires allowed, but such a peaceful location surrounded by spectacular views of the Howgill Fells.
For all its seeming isolation, the site is actually pretty easy to access, as it’s only 10 minutes’ drive from Junction 37 of the M6 – but it’s a 10 minutes that takes you deep into the countryside.
If you’re keen to abandon the car on arrival and explore the trails and byways of the Yorkshire Dales National Park on foot, there are plenty of walks for all levels of fitness directly from the camping field. Dogs are welcome to join you, but please keep them under control around the cows that graze in neighbouring fields.
When it comes to catering issues, you’re well covered too. There’s a couple of small convenience stores and several pubs in Sedbergh, and cakes and eggs are often available to buy from the farm.

With its privileged position in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Castle How is gateway to all levels of walks from challenging to family friendly. Take your binoculars to look out for raptors during jaunts along the challenging Howgills Trail from Sedbergh (15 minutes’ drive), or test your mettle on a third of the Three Peaks Challenge at Ingleborough (45 minutes). If kids are with you, take a gentle stroll around the arches of Ribblehead Viaduct (45 minutes), or walk the short distance from the road up to impressive Cautley Spout waterfall (20 minutes).
Tick Yorkshire Dales hotspots like Hawes (40 minutes), Buttertubs Pass (45 minutes) and Aysgarth Falls (an hour) off the bucket list, and learn more about the area with a visit to Dent Village Heritage Centre and Museum (25 minutes), an intriguing mash-up of farming implements and tractors.
Turn towards the west for days out in the Lake District National Park (half an hour). Windermere (35 minutes) is gateway to boat cruises on the lake, and most kids will love the cute Peter Rabbit dioramas at The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction (40 minutes).
