Low Scarside is a small, simple and scenic site located in a paddock around a mile from the pretty village of Bampton. This rural spot is surrounded by Lake District countryside and has excellent access to nearby fells, lakes and trails. Your two feet can take you far from this handy spot. The site has direct access to walks within the Askham and Lowther Valley, including The Knipe Scar footpath. For wild swimming, stroll to the nearby river swimming spot. If it's a beer you're after, head into Bampton village, a 40-minute walk away, which has a small shop and a community pub with great beer and food that the hosts particularly recommend. They also like the pub in the small village of Askham (15 minutes' drive), next to the historic grounds of Lowther Castle and Gardens. And if you're keen for more drinks or meals out, there are plenty of other great pubs, cafés and restaurants throughout the surrounding Lowther Valley. Low Scarside has simple facilities like a portable toilet and water tap. Barbecues are welcome. To pick up supplies, you might want to drive into Shap (10 minutes), a small town by the M6 where there is a well-stocked supermarket. Pitches are just 50 metres from the car park, with easy access to the common land overlooking Bampton.

喜欢 We had a lovely peaceful evening; local pub was fully booked, so we finished up with fish and chips in the village of Shap - best we've tasted!

喜欢 Excellent location near to lovely community pub with good beer and excellent food .Lovely flattish camping field with super soft cushiony grass !

喜欢 This place is magical, our stress just melted away the minute we arrived. It’s very simple but that is what makes it so great. The owners were super friendly and helpful.

I loved everything however as there is no shower you may not want to stay more than a couple of nights.

喜欢 Lovely little site, perfect for a pitstop on the way South. Short walk up to the ridge for amazing views over the valley, friendly cows and sheep and much appreciated local advice were particular highlights.

喜欢 Throughly enjoyed staying here. The owner Nigel and his family were all extremely friendly and so helpful, immediately offering us a cup of tea and information on the area and what it had to offer. The facilities were basic but the views more than made up for this. Would 100% would stay again.
