Heading off into the countryside for a walk or two? Or perhaps hoping to ride bikes along quiet lanes? Stay at South Yorkshire’s Broad Close Farm, just outside the village of Silkstone, and you’ll be able to stroll (or pedal) straight out into woodlands or onto rural pathways. And there’s more… this small and well-maintained site is handy for getting out to or set out to see intriguing places like Pot House Hamlet and the historic site of the Huskar Pit disaster. The Silkstone Waggonway is close by for more cycling and strolling days, and more intrepid bike riders might like to note that this farm is just off the Trans Pennine Trail (roughly at its halfway point, in fact). And of course, the Peak District National Park is but a few miles away… If that all sounds a bit too energetic, you can instead tour the area by train from the local station (10 minutes’ walk away and part of the scenic Penistone line) or hail a bus from the village. All sorts of attractions are close by too, including farm parks, stately homes and the national coal mining museum. Being rural doesn’t mean being cut off around here: a walk of five minutes or so will get you up to the village for two pubs, a steak house and a small supermarket (perhaps to pick up supplies for an evening by the barbecue or campfire back at the farm?)

The Burrow 1 间卧室 牧羊人小屋 (热水浴池)

喜欢: Great location, looks beautiful from the outside.

不喜欢: Unfortunately there are quite a few dislikes for the money we paid.
1. The outside area of the facility was dried muck and pebbles. As an outdoor person I like to walk around barefoot.
2. Interior of the cabin is very outdated and quite dirty. The facilities inside are practically none existing . Cutlery in a tupperware tub in the bedside cabinet, Table broken, No facilities to put your clothes. Bedding old and outdated.The TV doesn't work. The owner needs to put some effort into making this to a decent standard for the fee being charged.

喜欢: Great site, friendly owner greeted us on arrival and very informative. Everywhere was clean and well looked after. Field had been levels into pitches for tents. Loved our stay will be returning.

喜欢: Levelled pitches despite the field being sloped. Spacious field, kids loved the animals especially the calves and the owl! Farmer was really friendly and welcoming. Freely available fire pits and a wood next to site to collect kindling from the fallen branches. We were able to make use of the function room on site when it was raining of an evening to play pool, air hockey and ping pong. Shower facilities basic but clean and perfectly suitable for the job.

不喜欢: Busy road to cross to access hot water facilities and farm animals.

Noisy people running around the wooded area shouting late at night on one occasion.

喜欢: Nice to have animals just outside our door. When we needed anything the staff were brilliant with us and attentive. My son loved his stay. Only downfall was the bad weather but couldn’t be helped

This is a great area to explore for those with an interest in history – you’ll get a real feel for times gone by if you pack in outings to Cannon Hall Museum, Park and Gardens (10 minutes’ drive), the National Coal Mining Museum for England (20 minutes) and the excellent Elsecar Heritage Centre (20 minutes), where you can see craft workshops, old ironworks and a steam railway. If you’d like to take in more of the area’s lovely views, head to Holmfirth (20 minutes), the epicentre of a network of great walking routes, or take a stroll around Wentworth Castle Gardens (10 minutes). For more of a challenge, it’s a half-hour drive to Bleaklow mountain; meanwhile, for a much easier ride, it’s 20 minutes to Kirklees Light Railway. And if your rural outing isn’t complete without some cute furry animals to coo over, you’ll need a trip to Cannon Hall Farm (10 minutes), which has an adventure playground and farm shop as well as lots of new farmyard friends to meet.
