Pitches clearly defined by natural vegetation

Breathe easy on a break spent at Westfield Paddock Caravan Site, a small, privately owned and peaceful touring park for those with on-board facilities. On the edge of the gorgeous Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the family-run park is surrounded by gorgeous farmland with lovely views, and it's family-friendly too. Dogs are also welcome as long as they’re well behaved. Other strolls include one towards the village of Seahouses about a mile away for a chip supper, although you can also stay well fed and watered with the assistance of the pubs and restaurants within the local area. Food shops are within easy reach when you're foraging for yourself, and barbecues are permitted at the park. Set the grill up at your pitch then head over to the service area to sort errands with amenities including chemical waste disposal, a water tap and rubbish and recycling facilities. Also on site is a handy information caravan stacked with leaflets to help you decide on days out – which might include wildlife-spotting boat trips to the Farne Islands, a round of sea-view golf or outings to the stunning coastal castles at Bamburgh and Dunstanburgh… Bringing bikes along (or hiring locally) is a fine idea too – the area’s well served for bike paths, and the Sustrans Coast and Castles South route passes by the park.

The site has no toilet or shower facilities. Pop up toilet tents are allowed and charged £2 per night (please select the extra). Pitch surfaces are either grass or grass and gravel. Customers can request a specific ground type, however it cannot be guaranteed.

喜欢: we have stayed a couple of times at this site over the last years and we really love it. It's very clean, small and quiet site. It's also not a far walk/drive from Seahouses.

喜欢: Nice clean quiet site, very well kept, spacious pitches. Electric & water on the pitch, chemical waste easy accessible.

不喜欢: The Wifi was poor, very small site but Wifi did not reach us on pitch 10 because of trees. The site is actually a mile & a half from Seahouses.

喜欢: Lovely well kept site centrally located for visiting the Northumberland Coast. We enjoyed trips into Seahouses, Bamburgh and Beadnell. Very quiet with lovely views

喜欢: All on site facilities were in great condition and well maintained. Quiet and peaceful. Level pitches. Nice views. Pricing was fair for the area and what's provided.

不喜欢: Little impersonal. Never met any staff/manager. No recommendations or information boards/area. On pitch 8, we pitched towards the field and had our awning set up over the hard standing. If we had pitched the other way around then our awning would have taken up the entire grass area on the pitch leaving us with little outside grass area. This was frustrating when larger pitches were occupied by smaller camper vans yet we felt like we had little space for the kids. Final night, someone turned up who had been booked onto our pitch and it all felt a bit awkward.

喜欢: Location was ideal to reach Seahouses and Bamburgh Castle. It was lovely and clean.

不喜欢: Being woken 2 mornings on the trot at ~9am to mow the lawn and then return to again the next morning to finish the job. It only took a few hours altogether, so why it couldn’t have been done in one go is beyond me. 9am is not late, but it is when I’m on holiday relaxing and I’ve got a ride on mower (day 1) and strimmer (day 2) right outside my motor home for 2 of the 3 days I stayed.

Stick around Seahouses for the golf club, horse riding and afternoons at the spa, or set off for sandy times on North Sunderland’s shores (all about five minutes’ drive). Wildlife-spotting boat trips to the Farne Islands leave from the village, with chances to peer at puffins, seals and dolphins during the tour. Bamburgh Castle’s about the same distance from the park as Seahouses, and a beachside walking road from the site means it’s possible to reach it with a ramble of around three miles. More golf, with views across the coast, is to be had at Bamburgh Castle Golf Club (5 minutes’ drive); alternatively, continue explorations of stately structures at Dunstanburgh Castle – another beachside fortification dating back to the 14th century – and Alnwick Castle (under 25 minutes away). Alternatively, take trips to the historic Etal Estate (yet another stunning structure in the area) and take a ride on the most northerly narrow-gauge steam train in England, the Heatherslaw Light Railway (35 minutes’ drive).
