With Hexham two miles to the south and Hadrian’s Wall a mile to the north, there’s a whole lot of history in the area around Fallowfield Dene Caravan and Camping Park – and you’ll see that reflected in the fact that the various pitching areas on site have all been given suitable Roman names. This well-kept rural site is surrounded by mature woodlands, and native trees such as mountain ash and silver birch have been cleverly used around the pitches to provide landscaping, views, shelter and privacy. Naturally, that also makes the park a popular spot with local wildlife – you may well spot a fox, a badger or a red squirrel as you wander about, and may hear the distinct tapping of a woodpecker. Fallowfield Dene makes a great base from which to explore the area’s past, but the site itself is thoroughly modern, with high-spec bathroom blocks and a launderette. Large pitches have plenty of space to spread out, and they’re easy to access via well-kept park roads. How to fill your days here? Well, of course it’s a great idea to explore as many of the area’s Roman sites as possible, but there are also lots of activities like golf, fishing, walks in the North Pennines and watersports at Kielder Water. It’s also not far to get to Newcastle upon Tyne or the east coast. Please note that while children are welcome here, there isn't a play area and ball games are not allowed as space is limited. While barbecues are allowed, they must not be disposable. A maximum of two dogs are permitted per booking.

喜欢 The showers and toilets are spotless!! The site felt secure as there is a code on the gate so only guests can go through. The site has a one way system which will obviously help big vehicles or with caravans. Wi-Fi seemed good! Beautiful part of the country, i had a lovely walk down to Acomb and from there i walked to Hexham and on the way back stopped for a well earned pint at the Sun Inn!. It’s a lovely well looked after site would highly recommend.

喜欢 Quiet. Amazing, clean and modern facilities. Friendly staff. Local pubs to eat and drink. The Sun Inn does a fantastic Sunday roast. Great value for money, the cheapest site on our trip and by far the cleanest/best well kept.

不喜欢 Small shower cubicle with no available shelves.
Shower water after pressing 'button' lasts seconds! Very annoying having to continuously press to have a shower.

喜欢 Real gem of a campsite. Easy to find, helpful staff on arrival, good size pitches ( we had a hardstanding but could see the grass pitches were an equal size), clean and modern showers/toilets, amazing location with easy access to countryside for pooch walks and local village for parents of pooches to enjoy local liquid refreshments😁👍
Campsite in general nice and quiet and well respected by all onsite.

喜欢 The site is beautifully landscaped, mostly static and seasonal pitches but all very discreetly set out. The touring pitch we asked for was hard standing and was in a circle of about 10 all on well drained good sized pitches , I personally missed the grass so next time we book I will request a grass pitch.
The touring pitches are all near a very well set up toilet and shower block, spotlessly clean (as is the entire site) .
Very easy access to Hexham and the A69 but far enough away to hear only bird song.

If the site’s Roman theme has inspired you to get out and see some of the original locations, head first to the nearest section of Hadrian’s Wall, a mile away. A little further away, drop into Corbridge Roman Town (10 minutes’ drive), the Temple of Mithras (15 minutes) and Housesteads Roman Fort (20 minutes). Hexham (10 minutes) is a historic place too, but with attractions from a different era like the abbey and Hexham Old Gaol as well as more Roman bits and pieces. For a more contemporary urban day out, make tracks to Newcastle upon Tyne (half an hour) for the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, the Discovery Museum and a whole lot of places to eat, shop and catch cultural events. Truly rural outings are easy to find too – just head a couple of miles south to the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty or north to Kielder Forest Park. Kielder Water (45 minutes) has various watersports to try out, plus a bird of prey park.
