Fancy nesting in the Northumberland National Landscape for a little while – and with a sea view too? Motorhome and caravan tourers can do so in a fabulous location at Link House Farm, a pop-up site on a farm overlooking the coast about half a mile from the village of High Newton-by-the-Sea. This is a no-frills setup, with no electric hookups and just portable toilets and a a chemical disposal point on the facilities front, but it's mightily peaceful and scenic – the spacious pitching field is level and in an elevated position to give it wonderful views over coast and countryside. It's a laidback place where kids and dogs are welcome (as long as the latter are kept on leads so they don't disturb livestock in the neighbouring fields). Being able to see the sea from the site should give you a hint that there's beach action not far away – and in fact it’s only about a 10-minute walk to Link House beach, a long dog-friendly stretch of sand. The local pub is also only about 10 minutes' walk away – just the spot for a refreshing drink after a long coastal walk or perhaps a round at one of the golf courses spread along this stretch of coast. There’s some great birdwatching in this area too, particularly in the wildlife ponds at Low Newton-by-the-Sea or along the Long Nanny river estuary. Sea fishing, watersports and cycle rides may also fill some of your time – or perhaps touring historic castles like Alnwick, Dunstanburgh and Bamburgh, all of which are within a 20-minute drive.

来自经理: Actually the loos are cleaned and disinfected daily by us.
As I explained to this customer they are "Portaloo's" and the service company empty them weekly. This is the first time we have had a complaint about unbearable smell and can only put it down to the hot weather or customers emptying their toilet cassettes in to the loos instead of the chemical disposal containers.
These are "Portaloo's" and not plumbed in to the main sewage system - they are sitting in a field !!

喜欢 Huge field, only 13 vans when we were there, gorgeous view of Cheviot and a spectacular sunset, parked at the top of the field so could also see the sea
Imagine it might be quite windy on a breezy day
Great easy walking distance to The Joiners Arms (5 mins) and about 15 mins to The Ship and the beautiful beaches at Low Newton

喜欢 We loved our night here! We’ve got a toddler and it was his first camping experience - the field was easy to find and access and it’s not overcrowded so we were able to pick a huge space and not encroach on anyone else. The toilet and water facilities are adequate and as advertised. The owner was friendly and spent time answering our questions about where to walk and eat - and addressed our worries about the wind!! There are two pubs - one within throwing distance, where we had a nice pub meal for dinner and another 20-30 mins of all away where we enjoyed lunch outside the next day. Beaches are superb!

喜欢 Found this online as we were driving up the Northumberland coast and booked as we drove on.
Just a massive field, plenty of space and country air. Chemical waste, rubbish bin and portable toilets. Short walk down to a lovely small cove with crystal clear water.
Pub is a short walk away or another one down the road in Low Newton. Again, easily walkable. Not many free places to park on the coast up here, so this was ideal.
No frills site and cheap at £20.

There’s almost no avoiding castles in this area, which was at the forefront of potential invasions for centuries. Along the coast, a couple of popular spots are the atmospheric ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle (15 minutes' drive) and the imposing Bamburgh Castle (20 minutes), a place full of tales of knights, dragons and Vikings. Lindisfarne Castle (40 minutes) on Holy Island is another wonderful place to visit. Inland, the likes of Alnwick Castle (20 minutes), Chillingham Castle (35 minutes) and National Trust - Cragside (45 minutes) hold plenty of appeal for history lovers (and Harry Potter fans too, in the case of Alnwick). For wildlife outings, take a boat trip to the Farne Islands from Seahouses (15 minutes) or visit Andy Howey’s Birds of Prey and Reptiles Centre (half an hour). Something a bit active? There’s a surf school in Amble (20 minutes) and several golf courses close by, including Dunstanburgh Castle Golf Course (10 minutes) and Seahouses Golf Club (15 minutes), both with fabulous (albeit possibly distracting) sea views.
