When racecourse meets campsite… brought to fruition by the award-winning York Racecourse, Stableside Campsite lets guests sample all York has to offer from a peaceful, dog-friendly site. A 10-minute drive from York city centre and 35 minutes to Malton, this site is set up on the grounds of York Racecourse itself – well-situated for anyone who wants easy access to lustrous events on the horse racing calendar and anyone who wants a friendly and reliable base for a city break in the south of York. Pick a plot among the spacious grassy pitches, bringing along a dog if you wish, then venture inside the Roman city walls, a half-hour walk away. Or, let public transport whisk you to York Minster, Shambles or the National Railway Museum – they're all within a 10-minute drive or bus ride. If you’re not already stuffed to the brim with Yorkshire fudge and goodies from York’s Chocolate Story (10 minutes away), visit one of the city's many shops and cafés within 10 minutes' drive, for all-sized bellies and palates. After all, there’s plenty of exploring to be done, whether it's further out into the Yorkshire countryside or closer to camp… fuel up with a local takeaway or grab supplies from the supermarket 10 minutes' walk away. Don’t worry about your furry friend being left behind, there’s a dog-friendly pub a minute's walk away. For all basic needs, there are showers and toilets in the adjacent Stableside complex, a three-minute stroll away. This is also the place to get a proper Yorkshire breakfast served at the Stableside Café, on weekend mornings until 10.30am.
