Half measures? Not here. East Yorkshire's Half Moon Inn is fully sorted for location, facilities and award-winning Sunday roasts – how handy that you'll be pitching up right by a pub. Riverside walks along the handsome banks of the Ouse as well as twitching at the Blacktoft Sands RSPB reserve within five minutes' drive are among the many options for when you've worked your way through the pub menu and are seeking something slightly more active (if only to ensure your clothes still fit when your holiday comes to an end). And as local town Goole (10 minutes' drive) is an East Riding port town, it's an easy ride by car – or bike – to the Yorkshire coast for strolling upon the sands. But back to that menu. The pub is open daily for food, from its general menu from Mondays to Saturdays or a full carvery on Sundays (do book a table for this latter, it's rightly popular). A stonebaked pizza night runs on Mondays too and there are free meals for kids at certain times of the week, as well as evening entertainment for grownups awaits including quizzes and live music – fully expect to be spending quite some time in this friendly pub. The site has toilets, internet access and ice pack freezing. Barbecues (off ground only) are allowed, but you'll probably yearn to have meals in the pub every night: no point having a Yorkshire pub holiday in half measures…

喜欢: Great location, pub was amazing and the Sunday carvery was delicious, Good atmosphere and met some lovely people, added bonus of a fish and chip van that pitched on Monday as the pub restaurant was closed.

不喜欢: I would just like to apologise to the other campers and the site owners for the tribe of dogs that was with us. It was my sister inlaws first time camping and her dogs have never left the house before so this led to them getting off leads/out of tents. We didn't intentionally want to upset anyone and we take full responsibility. Lesson learnt that we won't be taking so many dogs with our party going foward!

喜欢: Pub carvery and pudding was lovely and a good price.

不喜欢: Drunken campers had my dog barking and other dogs barking on and off throughout the night until 4am when an ambulance came to take away 1 injured drunk when the site then went quiet so paid £32 to be awake all night and fot for nothing the following day!

来自经理: We do stipulate dogs must be on leads at all times. We ask everyone if there's a problem to report it to us, nobody did! Why not speak to the staff or call the out of hours number then this could of been rectified. Your penalising the site/owners. it was a very busy weekend (bank holiday) and we didn't receive 1 complaint to staff or over the phone, but you can right a long review ? Doughnut!!

喜欢: Ideal for family camping with dogs, good space to play games, play area within eye shot Decent size pitches. Well away from the road. Great atmosphere with a pub on the door step. 10mins drive to the shop. Owner was very friendly and a dog lover. We will definitely be coming back.

不喜欢: No real dislikes everything was just what we needed. Would be nice to have another men’s toilet.

喜欢: We have been coming here for 4 years now & have never had a bad experience. It’s always clean, never any issues & a great atmosphere. The kids are free to roam, play & be safe. We went to the pub this year for Sunday dinner & honestly, it’s the best dinner we’ve had in a LONG time & it’s amazingly priced. Can’t wait to come back to our favourite place.

喜欢: Had a pub outside ground that served food ok for a 1 nighter

不喜欢: Nothing really within walking distance there were pets wondering around without leads as the the sign did stipulate they must be kept on lead at all times quite noisy at night time after 11 with people talking in other pitches toilets /shower very basics but clean and tidy better than not having any at all

Set off from the site for strolls along the Ouse, along the riverside path to the villages of Whitgift and Ousefleet, a mile and two miles respectively, or further afield to Adlingfleet (four miles) or Fockerby and Garthorpe (each six miles away, and surely worth an extra dessert at the pub later). You can also opt to hike the three miles to Blacktoft Sands RSPB reserve, for more active hours wandering around the biggest tidal reedbed in England to spot the likes of marsh harriers and bitterns. Pick up the birdwatching challenge sheet from the centre's reception to see how many you can tick off; prizes are awarded for the best sightings. Guaranteed sightings are among the critters of Yorkshire Wildlife Park, 40 minutes' drive away just outside Doncaster: species to see here include lions, tigers, lemurs, baboons and the only polar bears living in an English zoo. Hull is 45 minutes away for shopping and sightseeing.
