Life’s a beach is the saying… and beaches may very well feature in a merry itinerary from this East Yorkshire site, as West Hale Gate Caravan Site is 15 minutes’ drive away from the coast. Run by two friendly faces, Edward and Mandy Lindley, the adults-only site is a real rural retreat, part of a working poultry farm surrounded by the countryside. A little downtime goes a long way, so this site is quiet and spacious so that you can get in a quality rest. Guests have access to bathroom cabins, each with a shower, toilet and basin so that you’ll have somewhere to freshen up a little before the day – the site is close to the North Yorkshire border, so there’s much do whichever direction you go. This is a working farm, so the site is unable to accept pets. The farm itself is in a pretty prime position for hunting down some appetising places to eat, as it’s just half a mile out from the rather scenic village of Burton Fleming and its pub, post office and small shop. Rudston, another village five minutes’ drive away, has a popular foodie spot in the form of a community pub – you may want to pedal there over the particularly splendid (and flat-ish) bike ride before settling in for a meal.

喜欢: Peaceful site with open field view. Small amount of pitches which makes it feel nice and spacious. Clean facilities at all times. A great base for exploring surrounding areas. Bempton cliffs, Hunmanby Gap, Bridlington, Filey, Flamborough Head, Thornwick Bay. Quiet road at night. Had a lovely two night stay .Good value for money.

喜欢: Good location for the East Coast. Very friendly welcome from Mandy, the freshly laid eggs on arrival is a great personal touch (the eggs were fab). Very clean toilet/shower facilities, with hot running water in the quaint little bathroom huts. Lovely, calming scenery (despite our pitch being being next to a main road). Overall a really great stay and a good price - would definitely recommend/stay again !! 👍🏼

不喜欢: **NOT the owners fault** Not really a dislike, just to be aware:- The WiFi is very ‘hit & miss’ depending on where you are pitched up, despite free p/w access. Our mobile phones weren’t receiving best reception either, so if you want to stream music/ connect to the internet, etc, then I’d suggest bringing a totally alternative entertainment option.

喜欢: This is such a lovely quiet site with beautiful views and such lovely cows😀.. loved the little huts which were the toilets and showers.. ideal for travelling to Filey and Bridlington also only half an hour to Scarborough.. would definitely stay again

喜欢: Nice quiet site, very clean toilets/showers. Bonus no dogs, kids or tents :-) 5.5 miles from Bridlington and Filey. Will we go again, yes. Bonus was given 1/2 dozen box of free range eggs :-) Owner very nice.

Sidle down to the seaside… Bridlington (15 minutes’ drive) has sandy beaches where you may dabble in a spot of windsurfing or kitesurfing, followed by a tour around the old town. In Filey (15 minutes), you may laze along the sandy shore or watch the fishing boats go to sea. Then, Scarborough (half an hour), a serious seaside resort, has boat trips, surf schools and a funfair, while in Whitby (an hour), there’s the carcass of an abbey and Dracula legends to discover around the town, as well as another beach. While the coast has a way of reeling you in, you won’t want to miss out on the Yorkshire Wolds Way (15 minutes). It’s a hot rambling spot, thanks to its softly undulating chalk uplands and old villages – and those of you who are keen cyclists are likely to appreciate the sloping landscapes too. Craving the city too? Well, the port of Hull (55 minutes) may be a good stop-off on your walking and cycling endeavours. A little further afield, the medieval city of York (an hour) and the shopping centre in Leeds (an hour and a half) make for some more grand days out.
