Pub grub, canoeing on the river Waveney and waterside wanders might very well make up some of your stay at The Red Lion in the Waveney Valley. With dog-friendly and family-friendly pitches in the grounds of a traditional country pub (where dogs are permitted in the outside area only), this site is not just for the foodies, although it certainly scores highly on that front thanks to its classic menu of pub grub. The site is 10 minutes’ drive away from a couple of museums (aviation and World War II included) and canoe hire for the river Waveney, which runs through the valley. In fact, the site is just 10 minutes’ stroll away from the riverbank, where you can walk right onto the Angles Way, a 93-mile trail along the riverside. On site, there’s an amenities block with a toilet, shower room and an outside washing-up area handy that's handy for dealing with barbecue aftermath. There’s a playground here where kids can run off any excess energy, perhaps while you supervise from over a pint in the pub’s outdoor seating. For snacks and that sort of thing, Harleston’s selection of supermarkets is five minutes’ drive away from the site. Handily, there’s a local bus route that runs past the outside of the pub, so it should be easy enough to get around the surrounding area. Please note the pub's opening hours: it is closed on Mondays, open between 12pm and 3pm on Tuesday through to Sunday and open in evenings from 5.30pm to 8pm for food (and until 10pm for drinks) on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

喜欢 Great little campsite with everything you need during your stay and a play park for the children.

Greeted on arrival with a smooth check in and choice of pitch.

Toilets and showers were clean with plenty of loo roll ect.

Really lovely country walks from the campsite.

不喜欢 The pub itself was very busy and we waited a longtime for our food despite booking prior.

I requested an adult size portion of Macaroni cheese which was declined so had to have a children’s portion. Minor issue but it was my birthday so annoying.

The Pub food was fabulous the owners and staff were even better!! We love you Megan!
Caters for dogs even has a little area for them to do there doodoos! and a little shop where you can buy all sorts of provisions from washing powder to frozen pizzas!!
the ability to walk into Harleston (takes about 40mins) then can get a bus back, got dropped off right outside the pub! just as well as had a few in The Cap an amazing pub in the town which served local beers and lagers Gorgeous!!!

不喜欢 Not really any dislikes tbh just got a whiff of the septic tanks every so often

喜欢 Small site with easy access from road. Not too noisy. Hard standings were good quality and plenty of space for even a large van. Facilities were adequate for the size of the site: a toilet and a shower room / toilet room. No queues even when site was full. Owner was very helpful and came to check in with me during stay to see how things were. Washing up facilities were spacious. Obviously well located for a pub and there are plenty of options for eating out in Harleston which is an easy walk on pavements. Pleasant walking on fields / footpaths along the river to Brockdish where there is another excellent pub.

喜欢 The welcoming, the hospitality, outstanding customer service, food was outstanding well worth it , the pub itself all I say don't judge a book by it's cover . Camp site is actually well away from the road and kept clean and tidy. Gated entrance, and at night very peaceful, The little shop well stocked,has a good little bit of fresh to frozen at superstore prices..The family always welcoming especially MUM Xxxx . We enjoyed every minute there of the two weeks we where there. Thanks Mike , Mum and all staff

不喜欢 We couldn't say anything about the place , but apart from people going there expecting it to be an award winning campsite , it is what it is a pub with an added campsite for great food and somewhere to stay for a few nights or more

喜欢 Great site and location pub only opens on certain days but we stayed at the weekend so was ok.
We ate at the pub which was ok not fantastic but we are reviewing the campsite not the pub

喜欢 Great value for money! Lovely friendly welcome, nice and quiet. Hot shower/water. Nice large pitch. We didn’t eat in the pub but the gentleman was friendly when we popped in for a drink. Although the WiFi was not working we still managed to get 4g on our phones but then we were camping it wasn’t a necessity.

不喜欢 Nothing - one recommendation would be a couple more hooks or a shelf in the shower area.

喜欢 Can’t find a fault, everything was as described. We were met at the entrance, shown our site and the facilities. All very clean, exactly what you want.

不喜欢 If I had to find something it would be the WiFi, our 5g couldn’t get a signal and the WiFi wasn’t working because of a possible broken cable. This was only an issue because I wanted to watch the F1, so not really a site issue, more of a me issue.

Activities on the river Waveney might have already given you a taste for the water… and if that’s the case, you can’t go far wrong with a beach day. While the valley scenery might suggest otherwise, the coast is within driving distance and that includes Southwold beach (45 minutes' drive), a sandy stretch with an amusement arcade on the pier and good windsurfing conditions, and Aldeburgh beach (55 minutes), known for its tasty fish and chips. Those of you who have kids fond of animals, Banham Zoo (half an hour) might be one afternoon out to add to the itinerary, while Camel Park Oasis (15 minutes) is another with camels in the limelight. And for a place with play areas and farm animals, Easton Farm Park (35 minutes) is your guy. To switch things up with a history-geared visit, you’ll have your pick of a few places, including the Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum (10 minutes), The 100th Bomb Group Memorial Museum (10 minutes) for historical accounts of American involvement in World War II and Bressingham Steam & Gardens (25 minutes) for a steam museum and gardens… or steam train trip of your own aboard one of the trains that are in action.
