In search of a cosy couple’s stay in the Cambridgeshire countryside? Have a look at The Pheasant's Nest, a smart Bailey Unicorn Vigo Black Edition touring caravan parked in a quiet spot just outside the village of Witchford.
There’s just the one caravan here and it’s set up for adults only (sorry, no kids or dogs), with its own private outdoor space to ensure plenty of peace and space for your break. There are no pheasants nesting in Pheasant's Nest, but you’ll often spot them around the site, along with the retired sheep and hens that live here. The site owners are around most of the time to help and offer local tips if needed; they’ll introduce you to their three friendly dogs too if you like.
The caravan’s interior has been very nicely designed for a relaxing break – it’s been kitted out with a full island bed (so you can get in and out either side), a kitchen (with four-ring hob, grill, oven, microwave, toaster and spacious fridge-freezer) and a bathroom with toilet and shower. There’s also proper central heating (not just a blower) and plenty of USB charging sockets, and you can request a TV in advance if you wish.
In a lovely touch, you’ll be greeted with a welcome pack including coffee, tea, milk, butter, muesli and seasonal goodies, plus fresh eggs from the hens. For other foodie needs, the village has a shop, a farm shop, a takeaway and a pub.
Getting out and about might take you on rural walks from the site or on day trips to Ely, Cambridge and several National Trust properties.
