Just next to the Offa’s Dyke Path and on the banks of the River Teme, Panpwnton Farm is about as close to Wales as it’s possible to be without actually being in Wales (although as the border’s just a couple of hundred metres away you can easily flit between the two nations as you wish…) That location makes this a prime pick for anyone making their way along the entirety of the Offa’s Dyke Path – but there’s plenty of walking (and cycling too) to be done nearby for folk who aren’t up for such long-distance ventures. The farm is in the southern stretches of the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (10 minutes' drive from Llanfair Waterdine), where lots of scenic trails await, and you can also try out shorter stretches of Glyndwr’s Way, another major trail on the Welsh side of the border. There’s pretty rural scenery all around the farm, but you’ll not be stranded miles from civilisation – in fact it’s only about a mile to the small town of Knighton for pubs, eateries, shops and a railway station. You can drive down there in five minutes or so, but the favoured way to travel is to stroll along the riverbank for 20 minutes. Barbecues are permitted on site, so stock up on goodies for the grill while you’re in town. A washing-up area is on hand for cleaning up afterwards, and there are hot showers to help you do the same for yourself. There’s no wifi on site, but most guests get decent phone signal, and there are charging facilities to make sure you’ve got plenty of juice to plan your adventures.

喜欢: Great Little campsite that's spacious, quiet, and clean. Good facilities and we loved the anytime checkin / checkout. Nearest pub / town is a 15 to 20 minuet walk along the river bank.

喜欢: Loved this campsite which is nestled in a valley with a river going through it. Great walking area. We stayed May Bank Holiday for 3 nights in our campervan. Would definately go back again. Roxy the owner was friendly and helpful. The dogs loved it.

不喜欢: Not a dislike, a suggestion, could do with some more toilets. Not a huge problem but could be when busy. Not a problem No WiFi but 4G available if needed

喜欢: Panpwnton Farm is lovely - a very peaceful location by the river but with the town an easy walk away. The facilities are great. Offa's Dyke is a stone's throw from the farm offering lots of walks. Roxy was very friendly.

喜欢: The clean facilities, the setting and the friendly owners. Also, great if you like watching trains go by (occasionally!)

喜欢: Great location, lots to see and do immediately on your doorstep. Well maintained showers and toilet block, lovely owners and a food stall. Quiet, but next to a seldom-used railway, which can be a bit noisy but is well worth it to be so close to see the trains. When it's busy may be tricky to get a good spot, but on the whole, beautiful with amazing views and fully recommended. Good wi-fi/signal if you're working.

不喜欢: A little unclear where the spots/pitches/wash-up areas are if the weather/visibility isn't great - parts of the site can be very covered and very dark and some parts of the site aren't used as pitches. Railway can be noisy.

喜欢: The views on the campsite was amazing. The facility's was well kept and tidy. The grass was maintained very well. Over all a great campsite and I will be back 👍

喜欢: Best shower of any campsite I've visited. Good facilities with fridge, kettle and microwave. Toilets very clean. Excellent location for walking and visiting Offa's Dyke. Run by very friendly couple.

喜欢: This is a beautiful spot! The views are stunning. I camped next to the river where there were Dippers and Kingfishers flitting about and Red Kites flying overhead.

不喜欢: Three or four trains ran through and woke me up each night.

As you’ll probably be skipping about either side of Offa’s Dyke, it makes sense to start your trip with a visit to the Offa’s Dyke centre (five minutes’ drive) to find out about the ancient landmark. For other walking trails, head to the Elan Valley or Carding Mill Valley and the Long Mynd (both 40 minutes). For a closer look at the natural world, plan trips to the Small Breeds Farm Park and Owl Centre (25 minutes) or stop by at the Red Kite Feeding Station (40 minutes) to see these splendid beasts in flight. The Spaceguard Centre observatory (10 minutes) is also worth a visit if you’d like to find out more about the skies overhead. Castle outings are part of the landscape for trips here too – perhaps to the impressive 13th-century fortifications of Stokesay Castle (half an hour) or the art-filled rooms and colourful gardens of Powis Castle and Garden (50 minutes). If you’d rather skip straight to the garden strolls, try Hergest Croft Gardens (25 minutes).
