Setting your sights on a scenic walking break in the Shropshire Hills? Bag a pitch at Along The Milky Way and you’ll be in prime position to get out along the trails of this lovely rural area. This simple pop-up site sits alongside the river Redlake about 10 minutes’ drive from the towns of Clun (in England) and Knighton (just over the border in Wales). It’s easily accessed from the A488, a couple of minutes’ drive away, and there’s a footpath just across the road from the camping field so you’ll be able to get straight out for strolls. Whether you’re planning to wander along the riverbank, explore some of the Offa’s Dyke Path or amble around the best historic towns in Shropshire, you’ll be well placed at this quiet little site, which is a little bit away from some of the busiest parts of the Shropshire Hills National Landscape. Dogs are welcome to join you here as long as they promise to be well behaved around the wildlife that lives on and around the site. Things have been kept simple on site, with just toilets and showers on the facilities front. The real bonus of this approach is that it makes sure there’s no light pollution to spoil your evenings of stargazing – the skies around often have some dazzling displays (hence the name of the site…) Both Clun and Knighton have plenty of amenities to keep you fed and watered – between them they muster several pubs, cafés, takeaways and shops, and Knighton also has a railway station for travels further afield.

喜欢 Cozy little camp site tucked away down little lanes amongst farmland. Pitches are on level ground and easy to peg soil. Camp with your car next to your tent. All the facilities needed for a comfortable stay and your hosts couldn’t be more friendly and helpful.

喜欢 This is an excellent campsite. Stunning views and lovely spacious pitches. We received a message before our stay from the lovely owner Mandy, giving us clear directions through what three words straight to our pitch. Mandy met us on arrival and was so welcoming, showing us the beautifully clean toilet and shower facilities. There is drinking water and electric if needed and even an honesty shop were you can buy firewood and essentials. There is WiFi at the pitches which worked brilliantly - we watched a film under the stars in the evening. Thanks so much for having us, we will certainly stay again.

喜欢 Incredibly helpful and kind owners, answered my special request to arrive late and stayed up to help me in and show me all facilities. Definitely accurate with the name, the stars were amazing and very well priced for an indoor electric shower!! Lots of extra toiletries for free which are always helpful and appreciated.

喜欢 Peaceful site, even though it isn't far off main roads you can't really hear any traffic. Good walks around but also not far to drive to nearby places such as Knighton or Clun.
Lovely small site, so even though it was fully booked it didn't seem crowded.
Even though we had a non electric pitch there's also an option to pay for charging facilities which was handy when my phone battery ran out. And there's WiFi too at no extra cost!
The site owners Jack and Mandy are really friendly and welcoming and you can tell they care a lot about this being a successful site.

喜欢 This was a last minute booking and what a find small very scenic and the owners were top notch, phone signal is not very good but the wifi was perfect for what we needed. WILL defo be coming back.

喜欢 Very clean site and facilities with friendly hosts and a great location for the wondering the South Shropshire hills. WiFi was onsite but due to the location didn’t always stay connected.. but you can’t argue with free WiFi and affordable pitches!

Value for money is great!

不喜欢 The approach was narrow but being in a motorhome most roads are! It was only a half mile side road from the main B road. The gate onto the site was also a little tight but manageable with the large gateway opposite. Our motorhome was as wide as they go so campervans would have no problems.
The location was down in the valley so phone signal was non existent which wasn’t a problem.

喜欢 Mandy and Jack are super friendly and helpful hosts. The location is fantastic, no traffic, gorgeous views and only relaxing rural sights and sounds. We love how off the beaten track it is. The facilities are simple but adequate and really well maintained; even with a little stall with things you might have forgotten and firewood. We can’t wait to visit again!

There are plenty of options for walks in this area, whether you choose to stay local or head out to a hotspot like Carding Mill Valley and the Long Mynd (40 minutes’ drive). The Offa’s Dyke Path is a popular trail too, and you can find out more about it at the Offa’s Dyke Centre in Knighton (10 minutes). As well as country rambles, the area has some lovely urban strolls. You may like to start in Clun (10 minutes) to see the 15th-century packhorse bridge and the ruins of Clun Castle. Hopton Castle (20 minutes) and Stokesay Castle (25 minutes) are also worth visiting, and the latter is close to the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre (25 minutes), a useful hub of information and activities. Shrewsbury (an hour) is a pretty town to wander around, but if you don’t want to drive that far you may prefer Ludlow (35 minutes) – it’s got a splendid medieval castle and has developed a reputation as a foodie hotspot thanks to its market, indie food businesses and annual food festival.
