喜欢: The site was clean and well-kept. It was quiet at night and although it was quite a small site, there was lots of space for the kids to run around. There were showers and decent toilets. It is really close to Oxford if you want to explore the city. Lovely views.

不喜欢: It was quite a damp weekend and the toilets got steadily more filled with grass from people's shoes which wasn't cleaned during our stay. The space between the pitches is quite small.

喜欢: Relaxed feel of the site and beautiful views. A lovely site for a couple of nights. We wanted to cycle along the Phoenix trail from Thame so a good location.

不喜欢: Issues with a dreadful dog which was out of control but site manager and other campers calmed the situation and the owner was asked to leave by the site manager. Note to self avoid sites that encourage dogs. Also found prices expensive having just returned from camping in France where prices are cheaper and sites have more facilities.

喜欢: Excellent for visiting Oxford with good bus service very close. Beautiful views & relaxed friendly site. Clean but basic (portacabin) facilities. Quiet at night with locking access gate.

不喜欢: Would need more loos if busy especially as 2 of the 4 are so small only suitable for those standing up. Had to join ‘The Greener Camping Club’ at £12 on top of pitch fees for ‘annual’ membership which, joining in Aug, expires in Dec.

Part of the University of Oxford, Harcourt Arboretum (20 minutes’ drive) started life in the 1830s as a pinetum, but it has since grown to include California redwoods, maples and magnolias, among other plants. Seasonal spectacles include wildflower meadows and an area of woodland carpeted with bluebells. The exhibits at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford (half an hour) range from Egyptian mummies to a samurai suit of armour, as well as paintings by Renaissance and Impressionist artists. While in the university city, you might also want to check out the ornate ceiling of the Divinity School and the elegant Radcliffe Camera, with its circular reading room, both part of the Bodleian Library. The birthplace of Winston Churchill, Blenheim Palace (35 minutes) is a vast 18th-century mansion on the banks of the River Glyme. After admiring its richly decorated rooms hung with portraits, head outside to explore its grounds, which include formal gardens, follies and water features.
