How might you fancy arriving at a site where you’re greeted by fields of sheep and a gang of five friendly donkeys? If you’re a Caravan and Motorhome Club member, you can have exactly that experience by booking a pitch at Plummers Ridge Farm Certificated Location. This small Oxfordshire site is open to CAMC members only, and it’s a lovely peaceful spot with plenty of space to relax and soak up the rural atmosphere. There are plenty of paths for rural rambles in the surrounding area, and you can also take a walk to the village of Wardington (half an hour on foot) for a café, antiques centre and garden centre. About 15 minutes' drive from Banbury, this site is in a handy location for getting out to all sorts of local attractions, whether you fancy pottering around National Trust estates, experiencing the thrills of a race at Silverstone Circuit or catching a play in Stratford-upon-Avon. Closer to home, you could also simply plan an outing to a local pub for a relaxed meal and drinks – there are several in the surrounding villages, with the closest being just the other side of Wardington. As this is a site solely designed for touring vehicles, it has a chemical disposal point but no toilets or showers for guests. Barbecues are permitted for your alfresco dinners, and you can also buy fresh free-range eggs on site for a tasty breakfast. Pick up other supplies at the local farm shop (10 minutes' drive) or the supermarkets in Banbury; TV fans may also like to take a trip to the Diddly Squat Farm Shop, 45 minutes' drive away and owned by one Mr Clarkson…

喜欢 The most fantastic peaceful and tranquil spot, this is a small flat grass field next to the farm looking out over the farm fields with sheep, donkeys and horses as well as plenty of birds. We were going to have a walk but it was so peaceful that we just stayed there all day and didn't move, it was perfect. Our hosts were very friendly, nothing was too much trouble and the farm fresh eggs were amazing, thank you.

There are lots of lovely walks or bike rides to try out nearby, whether you keep it local or drive a little way into the northern stretches of the Cotswolds National Landscape. Nearby, there are nice waterside strolls at Cropredy Waterside & Marina (10 minutes' drive) or trails through 60 acres of private woodland at Evenley Wood Garden (20 minutes). This area is littered with fabulous country estates to visit, too – you may like to take your National Trust card to Canons Ashby (20 minutes) or Upton House and Garden (half an hour), or explore the grand Blenheim Palace (40 minutes). Warwick Castle (half an hour) is also on hand for historic days out, as is Stratford-upon-Avon (40 minutes). Petrolheads will no doubt want to see if there’s something going on at Silverstone Circuit (20 minutes); if it’s all quiet on the racing front, the British Motor Museum (25 minutes) is a fine alternative, with more than 300 cars to admire.
