If you're looking to alternate between relaxing in 250 acres of Robin Hood country and a whole host of adventurous activities for guests over the age of four, seek out a spot at Walesby Forest in leafy Nottinghamshire. The vast range of leisure activities here should help even those averse to alfresco exercise get moving, with popular options including watersports, climbing, archery and rifle shooting. A friendly team of dedicated instructors is on hand to make sure all that outdoor action takes place in a safe, low-pressure environment. The programme is updated daily, with a flexible play and pay policy to keep it all affordable. Time to swap sporty sessions for a bit of downtime? Take your pick from drinks or snacks at the bar, a poolside snooze or rambles through the site's wild woodland areas, where all sorts of animals can be spotted. Angling fans may find it similarly peaceful to take advantage of the free river Maun fishing opportunities available on site. When it comes to food, there's a handy catering barn (which, with advance notice, can sort meals for guests with special dietary requirements), plus a small shop that stocks plenty of sweet treats and souvenirs. If you'd rather step out for dinner, make your way into Walesby (a mile away), where two popular establishments are all set to serve up pub-cooked food. While there may not be a playground on site, there are 250 acres of space for ball games and adventures.

不喜欢 Reception closed when we arrived, had to wait nearly 30mins to be seen , arrived at 15.30 so not really late for check in time
Pitch not marked at all so didn't really know where to pitch up
Miles away for toilets, showers and clubhouse
Refused to use portal toilet near us
The showers were closed when we arrived as well so couldn't have a shower if we wanted one
Left after a 1hour and went and check into a travel lodge
Wouldn't recommend to anyone!
Been to many sites and I thought this was our worst one

喜欢 The site is huge! Plenty of space and there are toilets in a few spots. Family friendly atmosphere. The toilets are pretty basic (make sure you take a torch) but they were clean, they work and at the pitch price it's fine.

不喜欢 The food in the bar area was a bit overpriced for what you get.

Facilities far away was told 5 min.
It is if you can run fast but was over our large field then take a left keep walking flr 5 min.then your in the hub of community

Toilets and showers awful this weekend a lot problems caused by weather muddy floors how ever no excuse for people not flushing the chains ( I didn't want to see your number 2

Lots of fencing on site due to a festival coming. Machines all kinds .took the ambience of the site away

喜欢 The open space and the sheer size of the place is fantastic, genuinely very tidy and welcoming. Open space, trees and nearby woodland. Great to be somewhere quiet and spacious.
Good but a little basic facilities. Welcoming and helpful staff.

不喜欢 Toilets and showers are dated and could do with more regular cleaning, or better yet completely updating. The clubhouse again a little basic for the size of the place. But really not a major issue at this price point

喜欢 15x10m pitch is bigger than the average detached uk house footprint!!! Awesome. Stayed with my 6 year old boy, a mate and his 6 year old lad. (Wives and daughters included next time) and had a whale of a time.
The thunder, lightning and 35mm of rain on the 2nd night added to the experience bizarrely. Night 3 had such an unpolluted sky we were watching satellites passing in double figures every minute!
Bring bikes to take advantage of the 250 acres and 5mph speed limit of motorised vehicles!

不喜欢 The rain coming through our 25 year old backup tent. Can’t blame that on on anything but the uk bank holiday weather!

喜欢 Lovely place. Really well looked after

不喜欢 Unfortunately when I pitched there was separate owners of 3 individual dogs not on leads, they were all large dogs.
I've a chihuahua, I didn't feel safe for her so I left. Even though the staff visited them after me making a phone call. They clearly didn't care for the site rules or other children/dogs there.

With its tales of Robin Hood, ancient oaks, country houses and lush leafy landscape, Sherwood Forest has something to keep most sorts content. Clumber Park (15 minutes' drive) has long avenues of limes and open heath to stroll through, while over by the Major Oak (10 minutes) you can get acquainted with one of the area's stand-out trees before setting out on several waymarked hiking routes (maps available at the visitor centre next door). Similarly close to base is Go Ape Sherwood (10 minutes), where a medley of segways and zipwires nicely complement any on-site activities you've got up to during your stay. Kids not quite old enough for that kind of activity? Fear not, as families with younger members will find plenty of age-appropriate entertainment at Wheelgate Waterpark (15 minutes) or Sundown Adventureland (20 minutes). Spending time in town is also doable here, as Walesby Forest is just over half an hour from Lincoln's castle, cathedral and urban arboretum. Meanwhile, over in Newark (30 minutes), there's Civil War heritage, antiques shops and weekly markets in a handsome Georgian square, plus hovercraft tours if you fancy something a little different.
