Stay a while at Oatcroft, a remote wild campsite on the borderland between Wales and England, and explore the wealth of walking trails connecting hills, valleys and history. With Offa’s Dyke and Mortimer’s Trail passing close by and the Wych Way leading from nearby Kington through to the Cotswolds, there are routes here to suit everyone from Sunday strollers to long-distance hikers. This simple site on a working farm in rural Herefordshire has far-reaching views into Wales and across to the Malverns. About a mile away, the village of Titley has a pub where you can fill up after the day’s exertions, or within 10 minutes’ drive there are pubs, restaurants, takeaways and shops in the market towns of Presteigne and Kington. For pastimes that don’t involve donning your walking boots, take some quiet time at Titley Pool – a nature reserve surrounding one of the largest natural open areas of water in Herefordshire. Or experience tee-time at the highest 18-hole course in England at Kington Golf Club (15 minutes’ drive). The famed book town of Hay-on-Wye – with more than 20 second-hand bookshops and all manner of intriguing shops to explore besides – right on the England/Wales border is worth a visit any time of year, but becomes a real kingdom of culture each year during the literary festival. On site you can park your car by your pitch and bring your dog along. Groups, solo travellers and families are all welcome to experience the joys of getting back-to-nature in this secluded part of the Welsh Marches.

喜欢 Beautiful campsite with spectacular views. Huge field to camp wherever you liked. The compost toilet was always very clean. Philip and Roger the farmers were incredibly helpful when we needed them. The road up was a little tricky in parts but well worth it. Highly recommend

喜欢 It is a brilliant location, very quiet and off the beaten track. Philip was really welcoming and a great host. Facilities are basic - one composting toilet - but even that is clearly looked after. I'd definitely recommend this place!

喜欢 What an amazing place to spend a few days.
Phillip is a gent, we had some great chats and his knowledge of local history is brilliant to listen too.
I didn’t want to leave a review, because this place is a gem and I want to keep it to myself, but if you don’t mind a bit of wild camping, this is the place to do it.
Shoutout to Phillips dad Roger too, some great story’s about the old days of farming.
In the words of Arnie, I’ll be back!

喜欢 The entire set up is quite literally our idea of the perfect camping venue. The views are incredible, there's unlimited space & because there's nobody to upset my two young boys could run around being small children should, making lots of noise & having fun.

喜欢 Me and my wife absolutely loved staying here. The view is genuinely beautiful, it’s one of those rare places where you can sit by the campfire and enjoy an amazing landscape right in front of you.

The site is spacious, and if you enjoy walking, there’s plenty of space and nature around to explore.

It’s very peaceful, quiet, and relaxing. At night, the sky is incredible because there’s almost no light pollution, so the stargazing is amazing.

Mobile signal and internet weren’t perfect, but they were decent and good enough for everyday use during our stay.

Philip also shared some really interesting information about the area with us, which made the experience even more enjoyable, and he even checked in on us during our stay that really showed his kindness and great hospitality.
A big thank you to Philip for making us feel so welcome and for adding to such a lovely experience.

We would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great wild camping experience, and we’d happily come back again.

喜欢 Loved the simplicity of this site, your in a field with views to die for. Phil the owner was really helpful and visited us several times making sure all was good and telling us about the local history.

This site is as described on the tin, stunning views and scenery, totally off grid so you need to be self sufficient and limited numbers allowed, so no noisy neighbours and loads of room to yourself.

Really enjoyed this stay and will be back in the future. Thanks Phil.

As you’d expect in such a rural idyll, there are plenty of ways to get out and enjoy the countryside within easy reach. Several pony trekking options are available within half an hour’s drive both heading into Wales and within Herefordshire and Shropshire. And you can hire a kayak or canoe at scenic spots along The River Wye. Dip into the fascinating history of this borderland area with a trip to the pretty market towns of Leominster (25 minutes’ drive) – well-known for its half-timbered houses and antique shops – and Ludlow (35 minutes) with its large medieval castle. Check out listings for local events as both towns host all sorts of festivals throughout the year. This part of the world is also famous for its cider, so if you fancy a tipple you can pop to some nearby pitstops on the cider circuit at Pembridge (10 minutes) and Weobley (20 minutes) where producers will be waiting with a pint and a warm Herefordshire welcome.
