Stunning landscapes, scenic market towns and the peace and quiet of the Cotswolds… How could you say no to that? At family-friendly site The Thames Head Inn, four miles from Cirencester market town in the Gloucestershire Cotswolds, you definitely won't want to miss the chance. Thames Head is well-placed for exploring the spectacular Cotswolds on foot or by bike – the start of the Thames Path, which follows the world-famous river for 184 miles from source to sea, is half a mile from the site, and there are loads of cycles tours and walking routes starting in Cirencester and Tetbury, both within 10 minutes’ drive of the site. If that's not your scene, kick back on the dog-friendly site in the shade of the trees, soaking in the scenic and peaceful Cotswolds countryside, or take a relaxed stroll through the fields with Rex. Worked up an appetite? The site is in the grounds of the Thames Head Inn bar-restaurant, where food is served well into the evening and the drinks keep flowing until closing (remember to book a table, as mealtimes can get very busy). If you fancy fending for yourself, pick up supplies in Cirencester or Kemble – a 20-minute walk away – and fire up the barbecue. For a change of scenery – and menus – there are plenty of restaurants within 10 minutes of Thames Head.

喜欢: Location and surroundings. Fabulous food in the pub with excellent service. We are new to using a campervan and have stayed twice within the last 4 weeks. We have recommended to friends who have also booked. We will return. Thank you.

喜欢: Well kept site Pub served great food Good location

不喜欢: Poor facilities, one combined toilet and shower for the whole site is not adequate. Lack of recycling bins, not good enough in this day and age Very noisy road with boy racers driving around with noisy exhausts Small pitches and very close together

喜欢: Nice well kept site , next door to a very popular pub , that serves great pub and drinks , the pitches are nice and large and not too close together. Friendly helpful owners who also run the pub , the elephant in the room the one shower and toilet block , we never needed it as our caravan has a perfectly good shower amd toilet 😀. 🚻 🧻🚿

喜欢: Lovely setting . Great outside space beer garden . Private separate hard standing pitches with electric . Lovey meal from the specials board had by both of us . Friendly staff .

不喜欢: 1 toilet and shower Tommy to share from tourist no pitches slight wait .

喜欢: Lovely little site behind a pub nice big pitches with a nice grass and benched area in the middle very safe for children. Was greeted when we arrived and was shown our pitch

不喜欢: Only one toilet and shower for the whole site and it wasn't the best. not ideal when the place is full. No designated area to wash dishes also lots of noise from the road.

There are plenty of stately homes near The Thames Head Inn if you want to get a feel for the history of the area, with Newark Park, Sudeley Castle, Dyrham Park, Bowood House and Berkeley Castle all within 45 minutes’ drive of the site. TV addict? Visit Chavenage House, 15 minutes from Thames Head, which you may recognise as the Poldark family home of Trenwith from the eponymous BBC drama… If you’re more at home in the outdoors, explore some of the many gardens within 20 minutes of the site, rub elbows with the royals on a trip to Highgrove Gardens at the private residence of Charles and Camilla or, on a grander scale, stroll around the national arboretum at Westonbirt. Got kids trailing along? Get the best of both worlds at Cotswold Wildlife Park and Garden – meet the giraffes, lions and camels, then wander through the gardens at the Victorian manor house. If that’s not hitting the spot, take the kids to learn more about the Romans at Corinium Museum in Cirencester or give them Harry Potter vibes on the Swindon and Cricklade steam railway. If all of this sounds a little too sedate for you, never fear... Have a high-octane day at the Gloucestershire Rally School or test your mettle with a trip to Head for Heights – that adrenaline will be pumping in no time.
