Wake up to see the sun rising over the Chiltern Hills while listening to the gentle murmur of sheep, pigs and deer during a stay at Orchard View Farm, a scenic Buckinghamshire spot within 15 minutes’ drive of Aylesbury, Thame and Princes Risborough. Not that guests will ever need to venture to the town for food if they don't fancy moving – eats and drinks are sorted courtesy of the site’s fantastically stocked farm shop and deli or by dining at the Trough Garden Kitchen. This café and restaurant serves up a range of meals, including those made from ingredients sourced at the site’s award-winning butchery and cooked in woodburning ovens. There's also a bar. Looking after nature is just as important to the owners of this small farm as serving up tasty grub – they’ve worked hard to create a serene and scenic environment in the grounds by planting wildflower meadows, more than 100 trees and over 350 metres of mixed native hedging. Orchard View Farm is five minutes’ drive from the western edges of the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so it's safe to suggest that the local area is also rather pretty for walks. Crime fiction fan? Or just fond of cute country cottages? Head off on a self-guided Midsomer Murders-themed tour of nearby villages (you can download a trail map from the internet). Oxford is 40 minutes’ drive from the site and central London takes an hour and 20 minutes to reach.

喜欢 Very nice field, well kept with great facilities that were clean and tidy.

不喜欢 Some farm/ renovation vehicles were noisy and one drove very dangerously down the drive and skidded into the car park in the evening.

喜欢 Clean large showers,site very well kept,nice to see the farm animals

不喜欢 It’s not really a dislike we stayed on a Sunday night and the cafe and shop was closed on Mondays so we did not get try it which we would have liked

喜欢 Friendly, warm and helpful welcome. Good level pitch with plenty of space for awning, tables and chairs. Close but not too close to facilities. It will be even better once separating hedges have matured a bit to provide extra privacy from neighbours. Quiet and peaceful location.

不喜欢 Would prefer cubicles with basin to be able to wash without need for full shower. There are basins available in the shower block but as it is unisex, there is no privacy.

This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is a 324-square-mile chalk escarpment running from the River Thames in Oxfordshire to Hitchin in Hertfordshire. Highlights here include Wendover Woods, a Forestry Commission collection of trees with fitness and cycling trails, while four miles away (and 15 minutes’ drive from the park) is Aylesbury with its hodgepodge of Georgian, Jacobean and Tudor architecture. Browse the Bucks County Museum’s local history and culture exhibits, making sure to stop by the Roald Dahl Children’s Gallery for displays championing the characters from the novelist’s books. Just outside the town, wander around Waddesdon Manor, a French-inspired chateau with gorgeous gardens, or turn back the clock to the 1940s at Bletchley Park (40 minutes), the country house where the Allies broke the enigma code during the Second World War. If city trips are what you fancy, set off for the compelling colleges of Oxford (35 minutes) or the spectacular sights of Central London (an hour and 20 minutes).
