A leafy little jewel of a family-friendly Deux-Sèvres campsite, Camping Onlycamp Le Clos Imbert is 10 minutes’ stroll from all the gastronomic, historic and architectural treasures of gorgeous Thouars, designated a ‘Town of Art and History’.
Accessible from the long-distance Vélo Francette bike path, the site is a handy stopover for long-distance cyclists, and as it also stands on the banks of the Thouet River, you can hire boats, canoes and paddleboards to explore wherever the liking takes you. If you’d rather remain on dry land, the riverside Promenade des Pommiers is also steps from the campsite.
So, there’s plenty going on round and about, but what about facilities actually on site? For starters you can keep toddlers busy at the play park, and older kids happy with pétanque challenges. Laundry amenities are available along with hot showers and a baby-changing area in the spotless shower block, just to ensure you all look your best all of the time.
A small grocery store takes care of snacks, drinks and the daily baguette; anything else you might need can be found in Thouars shops and supermarkets – if you fancy a night out, there are plenty of restaurants there too.

Tomt med elektricitet som tillval på gräs
Tyckte om Peaceful. We had free choice as to where we pitched up. Very welcoming reception. Loos and showers clean.
Lovely town square when you got there. The campsite is at the bottom of the valley and the town at the top !!
Tyckte inte om The river wasn't very nice by the site, a bit of a damp area with lots of flies and then a stream, as the site is just down from a weir.
Don't be tempted to cycle up to the town via the pathway. VERY steep( but beautiful)
No chemical waste disposal.

Hit the stunning scenery of the Deux-Sèvres region with hikes along the Promenade des Pommiers (accessed from the site), which follows the course of the Thouet River. Enthusiastic bikers can join the Vélo Francette cycle route linking Caen to La Rochelle straight from their pitches, and if you’re keen to explore the area on the water, you can hire boats in less than five minutes’ walk from the site.
If the teens need to expend a bit more adrenaline, Teleski Nautical Moncontour (25 minutes’ drive) is the local spot for learning how to waterski or wakeboard. Younger kids in your party may prefer the gentler pleasures of the pirate ride and dodgem cars at Parc de la Vallée (20 minutes).
Don’t miss the handsome and historic town of Thouars (10 minutes’ walk), where you can see round the 17th-century hilltop château, walk the medieval ramparts and hang out in wine bars tasting local vintages. Those of you with a taste for good white wine can also follow the Thouars Wine Route to Loudun (half an hour’s drive) and sample the wares at AOC Saumur vineyards.
