Lägg till din företagsinformationIf you’ve ever dreamt of spending the night completely immersed in stunning natural surroundings, this could be the place… The accommodation at Dtente Sky Lodge is in unusual hanging tents, where you’ll sleep halfway between the ground and the treetops and wake up to spectacular views of the mountains of the Ariège Pyrenees Regional Natural Park.
These tents, the site owners say, were inspired by the Ewok village from Star Wars – but there’s no need to be a small furry creature to be comfortable during a stay here. Each of the large hammock-style tents sleeps up to three people (up to 400kg total weight), with the floor of the tent divided up so that each person has their own space.
It’s all designed to be ecologically friendly too – the tents are set up about 1.8 metres from the ground and safely attached to the trees with straps that don’t damage the branches. Each tent has a full mosquito net above you to ensure the bugs stay out and a removable flysheet that will let you soak up the splendid views over the valley. Sleeping bags and down sheets are provided for extra comfort, with a lantern per tent as well.
Back down at ground level, each tent group also has access to a picnic table, a private barbecue and a garden gazebo. Shared facilities include a small camp kitchen, a six-person Finnish sauna and a bathroom block with a dry toilet, a sink and a cold shower.
Heading out for meals or to pick up supplies should be straightforward from here, as it’s only about a five-minute drive from your woodland retreat to the shops and restaurants of Massat.

Stay here and you’ll be in a prime position to explore the Ariège Pyrenees Regional Natural Park, and all the activities it holds. This has always been a popular area for visiting cyclists, and the Tour de France has passed through on several occasions. There are plenty of mountain bike trails to follow if you’d like to follow in their tyre tracks.
Don’t fancy cycling? There are lots of hikes around too, along with an equestrian centre and river swimming spots both around 500 metres away. You could also see what the landscape looks like below ground at Grotte de Lombrives (50 minutes’ drive).
To mix in a taste of the area’s history, add to your schedule outings to Prehistoric Park (45 minutes), Les Forges de Pyrène (50 minutes) and Château de Foix (an hour). Meanwhile, for something totally different, try La Ferme des Reptiles (45 minutes) to see tortoises, snakes and all sorts of other beasts.
