The coastline around here is packed with variety – your options for visits nearby include a hike to the Miradoiro da Curotiña viewpoint (10 minutes’ drive), a walk around the peninsula that’s home to the remains of Castro de Baroña (15 minutes) or a stroll through the fishing town of Ribeira (15 minutes), perhaps stopping at the fish market along the way. And all this is before you’ve even thought about any of the beaches. Places like Praia do Areal (10 minutes), Praia Cabio and Praia Espiñeirido (both 15 minutes) are all good choices for a day on the sand. Alternatively, you can take a nature-filled wander through the wetlands of Corrubedo Dunes Natural Park (15 minutes) to reach the amazing 20-metre shifting dune at its heart. For a different day out, make your way up to Santiago de Compostela (50 minutes) to visit the cathedral that attracts thousands of pilgrims each year, tour the various museums and wander through the historic plazas.
