Ardèche River Glamping

The Ardèche Cévennes are just as stunning as the Ardèche Valley to the east, yet often far less crowded. There's a long list of activities you could try out: canoeing, rafting, canyoning, rock climbing, paragliding, cycling, hot-air ballooning, horseback or donkey riding… and even caving (in grand, well-equipped caves or – if you're experienced – wilder ones). Fly fishers can easily find local spots. Foodies, meanwhile, should like browsing the night and Saturday markets in Les Vans (25 minutes' drive) and surrounding medieval villages. Les Vans also has a cinema, theatre and festivals. More events take place in Orange, Avignon, Nîmes, and Alès, all within a two-hour drive. Tick off some designated Grand Sites of France while you're here too: the caves of Aven d'Orgnac and Chauvet (both an hour and five minutes) and Grotte de la Cocalière (45 minutes). You may also want to see the bizarre rock formations at the Bois de Païolive (half an hour) or visit the big-hitting attractions of the Gorges de l’Ardèche, like Pont-d’Arc (50 minutes) and Grotte Chauvet 2 - Ardèche (an hour).
