Catanger Llama Farm

There's only one pitch at this most peaceful and scenic site, a gypsy caravan set among acres of quiet countryside surrounded by nature and wildlife. And llamas: the farm herd hangs out in the adjoining field.

The caravan looks a bit like a shepherd's hut from the outside, but has lots of comforts and essentials inside like a picnic table with chairs, crockery and cutlery, solar lighting, basic cooking utensils for campfire cooking and a comfy pull-out double bed and two camp beds for kids (please note that the caravan is only suitable for two adults and up to two children under 12 years old, and that it's accessible via a 300-metre walk from the visitor centre along a mown pathway. Wellies are a good idea as the caravan and footpath are all on mown grass and this can be wet with dew in the mornings.)

All fully insulated, the caravan has a covered balcony with views over the Tove Valley as well as views over llamas, and a rear window looking out over twenty acres of native woodland to spot deer, hares, rabbits, badgers, foxes and many many birds. Car parking is next to the visitor centre, where you'll have exclusive use of the wetroom and utility room throughout your stay.

The caravan doesn't have ensuite, but guests have exclusive use of the wetroom in the Catanger Visitor Centre, with shower, toilet, washbasin and hot water. They can also use the utility room with tea and coffee making facilities and for washing up.

A covered cooking station with gas grill and double burner cooker is next to the caravan, but if you don't fancy cooking several local village pubs are in the vicinity serving lunches and evening meals.

And as well as meeting the llamas (especially the new mums and crias in summer), animal-loving guests can also get to know Feather the rescue pony, Flosi the Icelandic horse and the farm dogs Flora, Huey and Archie. Well-behaved dogs are welcome at Catanger but not allowed in the caravan please – however, if you're dogless in llamaland, Flora and co will come and find you.
