Beach buffs, behold – not one, not two, but three super stretches of sand are within easy reach here for your sunbathing, swimming and sandcastling pleasure. More active types should make tracks to Area Maior beach, 10 minutes’ drive away, for watersports including windsurfing, paddleboarding and kitesurfing. Or pop your comfy shoes on and head out for a coastal walk in the Monte e Lagoa de Louro, a rural open area just outside the resort – it’ll take you an hour or so to hike out to the lighthouse at the far end of the headland. Another lovely walk is up to the petroglyphs at Laxe das Rodas, half an hour away; for a further history fix, head over to Muros (an hour’s walk or 15-minute drive) to potter around among the narrow streets and visit the Sanctuary of Virgen del Camino.
