Camping Les Myrtilles

Again, beaches and boat trips first... drive coastwards to the sandy beach of Kerleven at the village of La Forêt-Fouesnant, for watersports and sunbathing days, picnics and boat trips out to the white beaches of the Glénan archipelago. Arouund the Glénan isles, a non-profit sailing school is on Bananec Island, giving lessons across all levels in English or French. Around 40 kilometres of signposted walking and cycling trails meander around the coast and countryside just inland from La Forêt-Fouesnant, to wander by your serene solitary self or via a guided tour from the town in July and August. You could also potter around town to see the gardens and flowers along the old harbour, and snap shots from the 16th-century church overlooking the beach. Camping Les Myrtilles is between Concarneau and Quimper, both around 15 minutes' drive away. Both are Brittany must-visits, Concarneau for its Ville Close Old Town reached by a drawbridge from the coast, and Quimper for its Gothic cathedral, another Old Town, and buildings dating back to the 14th century. Pont-Aven, 20 minutes away, is an arty village that inspired arty type Paul Gaugin: ask at the tourist office for the free leaflet detailing local spots where he liked to paint around the area, then pore over works by the École de Pont-Aven in the Poer-Aven fine arts museum.
