Perranporth beach (10 minutes’ drive) is a real stunner, with a huge three-mile swathe of sand, dunes, rockpools and a lovely tidal pool for a swim at high tide. It’s a popular spot for families, surfers and those who like a drink with a sea view – there’s a beach bar right there on the sand… Perranporth also has a golf course and a horse riding centre for more sea-view activities, and it’s on the South West Coast Path for seaside walks. Elsewhere along the coast, you might like to visit other beaches like Polly Joke (20 minutes) and Porthtowan (25 minutes) or head to surf hotspot Newquay (15 minutes). Away from the coast, you could ride the rails at Lappa Valley (15 minutes), explore the formal gardens and 16th-century manor at Trerice (15 minutes) or spend the day exploring the themed biosphere domes of the Eden Project (35 minutes). The Lost Gardens of Heligan (40 minutes) may also be on the radar for garden fans, with Screech Owl Sanctuary & Animal Park (20 minutes) a good alternative for family days out.
