Gostou Whats not to like.
Booked here to try out our new tent as we have recently changed from caravanning to try camping.

We were surprised how much we enjoyed this stay considering we have always been used to have all the facilities in our tourer and entertainment on site etc.

Beautiful location, peaceful and well kept
Very rare to find a place that welcomes dogs so openly and gives them so much freedom. there are several areas to walk the dogs where they are safe and secure with plenty of bins to put the bags in (they even supply the bags). the owners Dog Stanley is a gentle giant, so calm when other dogs around and so friendly.
The owners couldn't be nicer either, friendly welcome to the site and shown to pitch which was a very generous sized area (12m x 12m). later in the evening we had a slight swarm of bugs decend on us but Linzi brought us some burning sticks to repel them a lighter to light them and even a can of fly spray just in case. we offered to pay for them but she declined and said she just wanted us to be comfortable, to me that was definitely going the extra mile. We like the place so much we called my sister who book the non electric grass pitch across from us. We had a wonderful time there and would stay again in a heartbeat.

As my sister remarked, if this was the the 4 in a bed show we would definitely pay extra, it was worth every penny

Gostou Stunning little campsite 9/10

* The owners truly love this site and I’m sure that over time it will become busier as others find this hidden gem. When we stayed it was only us and one other family.

* Immaculately cared for grounds with really lovely theming touches.

* The three shower pods and 2 toilets are fabulous.

* The newly planted Forest with trails was a joy to wander in the evenings and the empty dog exercise arena provide a good space to try out flying a kite! Or playing ball games.

* The kitchen was the best equipped we’ve ever seen in a camp site. Washing machine and drier, microwave, kettle and spare mugs. Fridge and Freezer too.

Não gostou Only small things to point out really:

The site is still young and so until the trees grow more mature the field is currently very exposed. The night we stayed was windy and there is no shelter from it, it’s just flat open fields.

The ground was immensely hard. We lost a lot of pegs as they bent going in and later we really struggled to remove them. We’ve never had such an issue before with the ground (even the prior night at the other camp site). No idea why it’s so difficult in this particular location.

The toilets are a bit of a hike across the field and then you have to pass by a pond. If we had been camping with younger kids this would have been a worry for me as a Mum. I couldn’t have let me younger kids go to the toilet independently. You would need to always keep them in sight.

The toilet roll stocks ran out in one of the shower pods. It was a shame there wasn’t a stack of spares provided.

We would like to address the small things that you pointed out to us and we think its important.

Unfortunately being in the fens it is very flat and we agree when the winds picks up it can be very exposed. As you pointed out we have planted some trees and bushes but they will take a few years to mature to provide shelter so there is not much we can to provide any further shelter in the meantime.

The ground is suffering from lack of rain fall this year and we can only apologise that you experienced difficulty with getting your pegs in the ground.

Apologies that one of the shower pods ran out of toilet roll, as per our welcome letter the facilities are checked regularly. We agree it would be a good idea to leave out some spares, which we will do in the hut. I am unsure if you were aware but there are another 2 separate toilets on the opposite side to the showers.

With regards to the point in relation to having to go past a pond to get to the facilities we would not advise any young children to be left unaccompanied at anytime whilst on site but we note your concerns and will add a note into our welcome letter.

Gostou Very well kept, spacious, good facilities, very dog (and people!) friendly.

Não gostou Nothing really. Good recycling facilities s although I didn’t spot anything specific for food waste?

Unfortunately due to being in the country we do not have the facility to recycle food waste due to the fact that this can attract vermin which as I am sure you can understand we wish to avoid.

Gostou Our second year staying here and just as perfect as the first. Liked the fact that the bins are now in the camping field - made it much easier for popping recycling across. One again everyone was super friendly and facilities extremely well maintained. Already looking forward to returning next year.

Gostou A lovely little well looked after campsite with great facilities toilets and showers was nice and clean lovely hot shower after setting our tent in 30 degree heat the owners are very nice and helpful people we loved watching the owners dog being driven around on a golf cart 🛒 f your looking for peaceful relaxing camping then this is for you…

Gostou This place is a charming little campsite with everything you need nice clean toilets friendly helpful owners lovely surroundings and most of all good it was so quiet we will defiantly be returning here again.. loved it

Gostou Really lovely site; a spacious pitch for our tent in an enclosed field so safe for our children. Good, clean toilets and warm showers. A lovely area to walk, where we watched a barn owl swooping around. Quiet area with beautiful surroundings - we came for one night to test our tent as we’d not used it since having children and the site isn’t too far from our home - we’ll definitely be back and very pleased to have found this site.

Gostou Great tranquility. The pitches are very generous and excellently maintained. Level pitches with paving slabs provided to protect the grass.

The recycling facilities are easily accessible and well signed.

The additional field and newly planted walking area are great and in time will provide a great wooded area.

The facility area is very well equipped with a toaster, microwave, kettle, numerous fridges and if you forget any essentials they are on hand with tea, coffee, mugs and cutlery.

The shower area is functional with self contained shower, toilet , wash basin, heater and most importantly a hair dryer.

Check out the label on the unit they have seen action in the world.

Watch out for upcoming additions with the planning for a shepherds hut.

If you love peace and tranquility this is a little oasis of mindfulness. Sharing the environment with, blackbirds, pigeons, chaffinches, kestrels and hares is such a great experience.

We loved our stay and were rewarded with a lovely sunset and a chance to recharge our batteries.

Gostou We loved our visit to Hawthorne Farm. We were greeted on arrival and shown our pitches.

The pitches are on flat ground, the grass was healthy and well-kept. The adjacent field for exercising dogs is really good and worth a wander around even if you don't have a dog.

On site facilities are clean and tidy, and showers were hot.
Communal fridges, washing machine, drier, and pot washing are welcome additions. We would certainly return.
