Gostou Such a pretty and well maintained site. It was very peaceful during our stay, the site isn’t huge anyway, but maybe 24 pitches in use while we were there, some of which seemed to be seasonal pitches and not all occupied. The site has lovely clean facilities (loos and showers). We had an electric hook up which was just £3 for the four nights we stayed. There is also a fenced in off-lead dog area and plenty of dog walk options from the site. Ian the site manager was very welcoming and helpful and we will definately stay here again if in the area.

Gostou The location was great for us, alongside a boating lake and lido, and supermarket within walking distance, AND we had the bonus of Brightlingsea Regatta taking place, with street food, music, stalls etc, and lots of sailing taking place. We were also very lucky with the glorious weather! A nice sized campsite with campervans, tents and motor homes. Adjacent to the road to the lido and boating lake and marina, so there was traffic but not at high speed and not that bothered us.
Não gostou The owner was very uptight, and quite rude to us on a number of occasions, which started the moment we arrived and he shut the gate in our face ... because we were in a white van (converted) and he was “on the look out for travellers trying to get in”. We stated we had booked a pitch and he responded with “for when” ... clearly if we had just turned up it was for that night 🤷🏻♀️. He was exasperated with us not being able to find the reservation number (pitch-up) on our phone quick enough for him, and rolled his eyes. Then, having been told we could park where we fancied as he “wants everyone to enjoy themselves” he insisted we reversed on facing his gravel driveway, then criticised where we had parked (there were no marked areas) and we reversed as far back as we could to a hedge as otherwise could’ve been completely on a slope/bank ... as we weren’t allowed to park sideways on. He then came around and criticised us not being close enough to the gravel drive (even though nobody else was parked up at the edge of the gravel drive and in fact many people were further from the driveway than us, and they weren’t approached at all. We have a small converted Renault traffic with a shower/toilet tent alongside. He then returned to our pitch asking what the shower/toilet tent was ... we replied “a portaloo” .. then he gruffly said “there’s toilets along there” and pointed to the block. There was no need for him to come and question us ... we felt “picked on” tbh ... and being a gay couple ... it does make you wonder if this was an issue for him. The following morning he was straight around asking when we would be leaving as he’d need to unlock the gate for us ... we left within half an hour ... enough was enough. We didn’t use the shower/toilet block, so can’t comment on that, but we did wash up in the kitchen area which to be honest was not at all clean or pleasant, and was a Perspex lean to, very grubby, and was like washing up in a conservatory with the weather we had. There was no hot water, so we rinsed our dishes, as best we could without allowing them to touch any surface area.

Gostou Lovely quiet well maintained, clean site. The gentleman who showed us our pitch (which was a good size) was very friendly and welcoming. Lovely friendly staff in the pub and a good menu range.
