Another beautiful camping stay at the hop farm, 5 stars as usual. Firstly let me address the poor reviews, I’m absolutely shocked to see such ridiculous complaints and moaning. Everyone that complains about how far the toilet block is and how long or rough the grass is are completely missing the point of this camp site. It is HUGE with multiple massive fields of natural beauty and habitat, absolutely beautiful, try walking in any direction you will discover amazing beauty, how many sites have wild deer, rare birds, rabbits, hares, wild forest and vast empty fields to explore, and no one bothering you !!! You can literally have a full football pitched sized area all to yourselves if you so wish. That is what makes this place SO amazing. If you want toilet blocks nearby or want to be crammed in next to other groups simply camp closer to them or go to a smaller site. We have camped here multiple times and if I’m honest I would struggle to go anywhere else now for a private, spacious nature filled park. You can walk in almost any direction for miles and find yourself in complete isolation in the most stunning environment with beautiful country pubs. I highly recommend visiting the “Man of Kent” pub just a short 25 minute walk through fields. Amazing !!! Anyone thinking of visiting, ignore the poor reviews I promise you that your children will absolutely love this place. As will the parents. Unless of course you are one of the moaning reviewers that should simply go and stay in a caravan/holiday camp style park instead. 🤔 Obviously in such a huge site it is impossible to keep immaculately clean and sadly most people nowadays don’t seem to be able to clean up after themselves either but I can certainly say that the owners make huge efforts to clean and collect leftovers rubbish we have seen them and helped. It doesn’t help that there are several public footpaths and right of ways within the site that the local teenagers leave all their mess on but hey that’s kids for you. This campsite is so laid back and if you respect the rules they will leave you completely alone. If you wanted to play music late you could so easily find an area out of the way that no one would be disturbed and the owners would leave you alone. I think it is simply a case of respect that is missing from individual campers.
I’ve always found the showers and toilets to be as clean and tidy as anywhere I’ve camped before sometimes people are disgusting with their personal hygiene and the owners should not be blamed for that. It’s always clean the next day. The river Medway running straight through the site allows amazing walks, swimming, fishing and kayaking and due to the size you are almost certain to be able to have your very own river bank spot to use exclusively. Anyone playing music too loud in the busy areas are always visited and told by Tim to drop volume a little bit, as I mentioned before if you wanted to play music loud you could so easily camp in one of the multiple fields away from the main fields and not be bothered once.
I have found Sue and Tim, the owners to be so kind and polite always to us and they have never caused us any problems. I honestly think this place is the best campsite I have EVER stayed at simply because of the sheer size and beauty everywhere. If you are looking for the ultimate camping experience where you can ride your bicycles, set up your sports nets walk for miles and discover new areas to give your children the ultimate amount of freedom this is definitely the place. Bring ALL your outdoor toys and sports equipment you will not be disappointed. If you disagree I think you need a glamping site where you are monitored constantly. This is old school camping and I honestly wouldn’t change anything. Sue you have the most amazing place don’t change anything.
See you again very soon !!! 😉😊 Adam Z.
