Adicione os dados da sua empresaWith the panoramic mountain views and no neighbours but the site owners, staying over at Our Desert Homestead will have you feeling like you’re in the middle of nowhere. Yes, the campsite is in New Mexico high desert, but it’s still easily accessible from Albuquerque in 35 minutes’ drive.
Out here on this off-grid, but very much working homestead, your only neighbours will be the farm’s menagerie, including goats, ducks, turkeys and geese – you’re welcome to pet them and help at feeding times. And talking of animals – dogs are welcome but need to be on a lead around the livestock.
Facilities are minimal, so stock up on goodies before you arrive, so you can cook up a feast around the campfire. There’s no running water either, so be sure to bring supplies with you.
Amazing sunsets and sunrises are (almost) guaranteed in the clear desert air, while at night the stars go on forever in one direction, and you can also spot the shimmering lights of Albuquerque on the distant horizon.
Take desert nature walks right from the site, to get out among cacti, yucca and juniper trees, and maybe even spot roadrunners or wild rabbits. Driving adventures lead you to ancient monuments and caves, or you can see the desert from above on a hot-air balloon flight (30 minutes).

Atrações locais
The adobe-built streets in Old Town Albuquerque (35 minutes’ drive) make a hopping day out, packed with stores selling silver jewellery and vintage clothes, plus indie art galleries and a whole cluster of bars and dining options. The city also has a fine selection of museums, covering topics as diverse as hot-air ballooning and Pueblo Native American culture.
To see some real-life Native American heritage, head for Coronado Historical Site (30 minutes), the remains of a Pueblo village with ceremonial chambers covered in Pre-Columbian artworks. At Petroglyph National Monument (30 minutes), follow circular trails to see canyon walls covered in sacred Native American symbols, some going back 700 years.
And of course, the desert has some pretty spectacular natural features of its own. Check out the arid rock formations of the Toadstool Hoodoos (30 minutes) or see if you can spot the resemblance to a famous cartoon dog at Snoopy Rock (90 minutes), which is also a popular spot for 4WD safaris.
