Horses at the highway entrance an a casino on the grounds... it's easy to bet you'll have a heavenly time at Sky Ute Casino RV Park in south-west Colorado.
But it's not all about the horses at this spectacularly well-equipped park. Sky Ute is a luxury resort that's been hailed as 'first class' and 'beyond expectations' by former guests, and is set up for all types of guests including the very smallest.
The resort includes a casino gaming floor with over 550 slot machines, a private poker room, blackjack and bingo; if this isn't for you, meander along to the luxury indoor pool complex where there's also a hot tub and lazy river. There's a 25-lane bowling centre to hand as well, along with a games arcade and an 18-hole miniature golf course for afternoons of gentle family competition.
As you'll want to look your absolute best to fit in with your swish surroundings, you may also like to hear there's a fitness centre at your leisurely disposal too... and a beauty salon and massage therapies if you're the sort to snigger at the thought of working out while on holiday. You'll need ample eats and drinks whatever you opt for, so trot along to the Sky Ute restaurant, grill or steakhouse to have all tastes sated.
Sky Ute is a couple of miles from the south-western Colorado town of Ignacio and deep in the Southern Ute Indian Nation, a Native American reservation near the state line with New Mexico. Learn about the history of the tribe and its history in the region at the Southern Ute Cultural Centre and Museum, right in the resort grounds.

Wander over to the Southern Ute Cultural Centre and Museum half a mile from the accommodation area of Sky Ute, for exhibitions on the history of the Southern Ute tribe, the Ute Chieftain Memorial Park and replicas including a buffalo hide tipi. The museum shop sells jewellery, Native beadwork and Acoma pottery if you'd like to pick up a souvenir.
Slightly further afield, take the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad (30 minutes' drive), built in the 18th century to haul gold and ore mined from the nearby San Juan mountains. The railroad runs for 45 miles of highly viewsome countryside: bring your camera and all your Wild West imaginings. A museum is at both the Durango and Silvertop stops.
Sky Ute is south of two national forests, the San Juan and the Rio Grande, and within an hour's drive of the Mesa Verde National Park. Outdoors adventures like rafting, kayaking, horse riding and four-wheeling are easily sorted in the San Juan mountains: ask the Sky Ute team for details.
