Kampaoh Lagoa

There’s quite a selection of beaches in this quiet, unspoilt region. Hit the crescent-shaped bay at Praia de Meirás (15 minutes’ drive), where a seawater pool forms for safe swimming at high tide; it’s great for younger kids. Sandy Praia de Pantín (also 15 minutes) has strong winds and consistent waves, making it a champion surfing spot if you want a change from Praia da Frouxeira (accessed from the glampsite). Fancy a walk? More scenic seaside spots can be reached along the Paso da Cabra (20 minutes) hiking route, which wends its way on headlands above a series of rocky bays hiding tiny beaches. Prefer a dramatic drive? Take to the towering cliff tops of the Costa Ártabra (half an hour) for views of Atlantic rollers coming in, landmark lighthouses and coastal lagoons. And if you’re happy exploring a little further afield, the spectacularly ornate medieval cathedral, 18th-century San Francisco Convent and futuristic steel curves of the Cidade da Cultura de Galicia in the pilgrimage destination of Santiago de Compostela are just over an hour’s drive away.
