Calp (20 minutes' walk) has become a holiday hub for those who love the outdoors. You could spend your stay here cycling on or off-road through the local countryside, snorkelling off the coast and exploring the Costa Blanca's rich undersea worlds, kayaking around the town's marina or climbing up the huge rock formation in the middle of Penyal d'Ifac Natural Park. Other seaside spots in the local area worth visiting include Altea (15 minutes' drive), where you can choose between long beaches and seafront bars or sleepy backstreets in the hilltop old town. Inland, Benissa (20 minutes) is also not to be missed – come and snap photos of its magnificent medieval buildings or plonk yourself in a plaza for a laidback afternoon of people-watching. Further afield, there's Benidorm (25 minutes), a town best-known for its nightlife. There's more to the place than just a lively club scene, though – zoos, waterparks and city centre segway tours are just a few of the activities you can get up to here during the daytime, while just out of town there's also Terra Mítica theme park (30 minutes).
