Camping Le Ventadour

You'll find a fair bit to do within strolling or cycling distance of this pretty place, among hiking and mountain bike trails, Ardèche river fishing next door, and the ruins of the Château de Ventadour within half a kilometre's stroll (open to the public in July and August). A walking track from the site leads to Meyras a few kilometres away, a medieval town listed as one of the Ardèche villages of character. Two more characterful villages, Thuyets and Jaujac, are four and five kilometres from Meyras. Other options include sinking into the thermal baths of Neyrac-les-Bains, five minutes' drive from Camping Le Ventadour, or feeling audacious at the Adventure Forest tree climbing park, five kilometres away. Guided climbing, canyoning and via ferrata tours can be booked within 15 kilometres. For natural splendours, cruise along to the cascades of the Ray Pic waterfall (35 minutes by car), or to the spectacular Pont-d'Arc (just under an hour), the starting point for those mighty scenic canoe trips in the Gorges de l'Ardèche.
