Grab a spot at Domaine du Lambon and you can expect plenty of lake-based activities right on your doorstep… This Deux-Sèvres site is on the edge of Lake Lambon, so it’s got easy access to walks, fishing and watersports from the nearby activities centre. All of this is within a few minutes’ walk of the site, but there’s plenty more in the local area to keep you busy – it’ll take you about half an hour in the car to reach the ‘Green Venice’ of the Marais Poitevin Regional Natural Park, or an hour or so to get to the coast at La Rochelle or the fantastic theme park Futuroscope. There will be some days when you’re really keen to get out and about, but quite possibly some others when you’d prefer to loaf about on site for a while (well, you are on holiday…). This is a site that’s well set up for those times – you can sunbathe on the lake beach, take a swim at the outdoor pool, take the kids to the spacious play area or head out for a lakeside walk with the dog if you’ve brought one.

Gostou Nothing to like about this site.

Não gostou We arrived on site and reception was closed had to wait around for staff to arrive before we could check in. The pitches were uneven. Facilities dirty, everywhere covered in dead flies. Human waste on the floor in the toilets. Large group of teenagers staying on site with no adults partying loud till early hours. The park and lake are not at the campsite like advertised they are quite some walk away. We booked 2 nights but only stayed 1. Wouldn’t not recommend!

Gostou The staff were friendly , and pool area and lake was nice

Não gostou Big single sex groups allowed partying all night, leaving rubbish everywhere . The toilets and washing up area was dirty .

Staff were doing the best they could under difficult conditions.

Gostou Good sized pitches, nice swimming pool, friendly helpful staff, beautiful lake nearby with walk around. Small town 15 min cycle ride away.

Não gostou Toilets are basic
No shop/cafe/bar
Unfortunately a large group of (25-30) travellers had taken over and were very disrespectful to all on site, so far as the owner had to call the police. This was in no fault of the owners as it appears they’d booked separately and arrived together.

Gostou Swimming pool, clean facilities, beautifully maintained generous pitches, nearby walk around lake. Noise mentioned by other reviews is overstated; there was a youth camp onsite, but they were very friendly, polite and well behaved and if anything added a little life to the setting. Will be back for sure for longer next time.

Não gostou Lack of provisions, such as camping basics in a shop or bar.

Não gostou Large group of children on summer camp - noisy and busy pool. Looks like they were settled in for the summer.
Reception only open from 4pm - worth knowing when you’re travelling long distance.
No shop for even little things - toilet roll not provided. Worth coming prepared, nearest shops 3km away.

Atrações locais

For scenic outings it has to be the Marais Poitevin Regional Natural Park – this gorgeously green area is about half an hour’s drive away, and its paths and waterways can be explored on foot, on horseback, by bike or in small boats. You’re likely to see lots of native flora and fauna along the way; to be sure of seeing some of the larger beasts, head to Zoodyssey (half an hour’s drive) to meet bison, wolves and lynx among others. The area’s full of history too, and you can taste a small amount of it with visits to the huge Abbaye Royale de Celles-sur-Belle (10 minutes) and the Abbey of Saint-Maixent-l’Ecole (15 minutes), where Gothic and Romanesque styles meet to create something rather splendid. Over in Melle (15 minutes), the Silver Mine of the Frankish Kings is a fascinating place to visit both for its history and its amazing underground rock formations. If you don’t mind venturing a little further, La Rochelle (an hour) is well worth a day trip to stroll around the Old Town, dine by the harbour and visit the aquarium or one of the excellent museums.
