Cyclists: this is the very Vendée site for you.
Camping Les Peupliers de la Rive is in the region with more bike paths than anywhere else in France – and is close to the fab Vélodyssée cycle route along the Atlantic coast. A bike shelter and repair kit are on site for those arriving on their own two wheels, and bike hire for those arriving by other means who still (sensibly) want to venture out around the Vendée by pedal.
Other activities available locally include golf, sea fishing, horse riding and watersports such as surfing, paddleboarding and land yachting, or just lounging around the splendid beaches around this stretch of coast, the nearby islands of Noirmoutier and Île d'Yeu, and the popular seaside town and former fishing village of Saint-Jean-De-Monts (the sands of Tonnelles are an 800-metre amble away).
Or you could just lounge around on site… there's a library with books and games to borrow for lazy/competitive days (and toys on loan too if you need to distract the kids). Or you could dip into the heated outdoor pool, tackle a game of pétanque or table tennis, send the kids off to the playground, or go to see what's what in the games room.
For food, there's a communal area with handsome stone barbecues, fresh bread available daily in high season, and – simply splendid – a breakfast delivery service with bread, jams and other bits and bobs to set you up for the day.

Atrações locais
The local sands of Tonnells are among the eight kilometres of golden Vendée beaches in Saint-Jean-De-Monts; there's also Plage du Pont d'Yeu, famed for its shellfish foraging; La Grande Plage, with promenade and cycle paths, and the southerly setting of Plage des Demoiselles, between Saint-Jean-de-Monts and its neighbouring seaside resort of Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez.
Close by, a watersports centre and a golf course are both within a couple of kilometres, and a horse riding centre within a couple of minutes' drive for hacks into the Saint-Jean-de-Monts forest and across the sands and salt marsh. By bike, the Vélodyssée Atlantic coast cycle route is within 500 metres of the site.
Climbing walls, base jump, ziplines and archery are all on target at Explora Parc two kilometres away; sliding around at Atlantic Toboggan within five, and Youpla Land within 12 at Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez.
More restful options are boat trips to Île d'Yeu from Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, 15 kilometres away, or ambling around the beaches and salt marshes of Île de Noirmoutier, about 35 kilometres from base.
