Peaceful, green and spectacularly scenic... Camping Château du Gandspette is a quiet countryside site set among the grounds of a 19th-century château, across 11 hectares of bloom-filled wooded parkland in the Caps et Marais d'Opale Natural Regional Park. The Calais and Dunkirk channel crossings are 35 minutes' drive away. This park’s pleasant woodland setting makes for a pristinely peaceful stay: the site has spacious and landscaped pitches surrounded by mature trees, loads of green space and lots of blooms and hedges. Leisurewise, there are two outdoor pools (one heated), ping pong tables and tennis courts, as well as a multisports area and an outdoor gym; activities run in high season too. Food is well sorted at the site’s well-appointed summer bar and restaurant, serving grilled meats and regional specialities such as Flemish carbonnade and potjevleesch, and at the snack bar for pizza and fries to eat in or take away. The bar and its viewsome terrace is where you can sink a drink or two (while watching major sports fixtures, if that’s your leisurely bent). And if the scenery isn’t enough to rouse you from your slumber? Freshly baked bread is on sale every summer morn.

Gostou Our first stop over for our French road trip and we loved everything about it! Our pitch was a good size, the facilities were superb- clean and regularly checked. The staff were very friendly and helpful. And security on an evening walking around. Fresh bread available to buy each morning and frequent visits from the resident hens! The surroundings were beautiful and we liked it that much that went to book for 3 nights on our way home but wasn’t showing availability. Spoke to reception and not only did he manage to find space for us but also put us in the direction of a vet to use to get tapeworm for our pooch. Highly recommend 👌🏻

Gostou Love the big grass field for non electric. Love the pool options if warm or cold. We personally love lots of table tennis tables. Location is good for tunnel.

Gostou Julien on reception was so helpful and welcoming, what a superstar. As a senior couple we asked for a quiet pitch away from the children's play area which is exactly where Julien pitched us. We had a lovely couple of days, good walk through the forest, lovely swim in the pool, fabulous takeaway pizza with the best ever french fries. So quiet overnight. Great stay before our onward journey to LeShuttle.

Não gostou Concerned about children racing around the roads on their bikes but not sure what can be done to protect them from the vans and caravans also on them ....
We didn't need electric but did think it was rather pricey..

Gostou The campsite was beautiful. Staff were helpful and friendly. Our request to be closer to facilities was met. Facilities were clean. The takeaway pizzas were delicious, as was the beer. Well stocked supermarket close
by.

Não gostou There were times that the toilet roll and soap had run out. Our pitch had a slight slope, but didn't effect our stay.

Gostou Two pools, very clean bathrooms and good showers on the upper level, busier ones lower down with the laundry were busier. Nice to have tennis courts, outdoor gym, bread and restaurant

Não gostou We found that we were unable to get a refund on optional electric hook up (we booked in case but didn’t bring the cable in the end - I feel unfair of the owner not to refund.

Atrações locais

The region is well served by road, rail and sea connections, including services such as the Eurostar and several from major Channel maritime operators. Camping Château du Gandspette is 45 minutes’ drive from the Calais-Fréthun high-speed rail international station too, making one-hour journeys to London, 30-minute journeys to Lille and two-hour journeys to Brussels and Paris a cinch. The site’s Caps et Marais d'Opale Natural Regional Park setting is tiptop for hikes and bike rides around the area, with the GR 128 hiking trail (between Wissant in France and Gand in Belgium) within easy reach. Horse riding, fishing and golf are available in Ruminghem and St Omer, and for kid-friendly days out, bowling, go-karting and theme parks such as Dennlys Parc at Dennebroeucq and Plopsaland de Panne in Belgium are all within an hour’s drive. History buffs can take a trip to the Eperlecques Blockhouse, a kilometre from base, and the La Coupole bunker complex (aka the St Omer Dome) is less than 20 minutes’ drive away. Other war memorial sites and points of interest well worth a trip to include the Fortress of Mimoyecques, the 1939-1945 Museum at Ambleteuse, the Memorial Museum at Calais, the Atlantic Wall Museum in Audinghen and the Memorial Museum at Dunkirk.
