Oh, that pool. And oh, those views. And oh, wouldn’t it be just fab to stretch out on a lounger, declaring yourself settled in that very spot for the duration, merci beaucoup...
And that’d be an option of course (what you get up to on your hols is entirely up to you), although it would mean missing out on all the other fine activities in and around Chalets des Mousquetaires, a family-friendly lodge site five minutes’ drive from the village of Mirepoix.
And it's worth occasionally rising from your horizontal position to venture out – within half an hour or so you can be canoeing, playing golf, swinging through the trees or visiting the area’s châteaux. Or perhaps the idea of vineyard visits and munching on some of the Gers region’s foodie treats may be enough to tempt you out (do the likes of confit duck, foie gras, Roquefort cheese tickle your tastebuds?).
That said, you don’t have to roam terribly far for a bit of gentle activity. There are games of pétanque, badminton and table tennis to play, a fishing pond to cast your rod into and alfresco yoga, aqua gym and hiking sessions to join in with. Meanwhile, les enfants are well catered for with a playground, a trampoline and daily frolics at the kids’ club (Monday to Friday mornings in summer season) to fill their time with.
Organised ents aren’t limited to the nippers though – in high season there’s a splendidly busy social programme for all folks here. Meet your fellow guests over a family meal once a week, join in group excursions, or catch up of an evening with a cooking demo, stargazing or live music – all arranged on site for your convenience.

Atrações locais
There are loads of ways to get out and about in this highly scenic area – head to Roquelaure for quad biking, swing your clubs on the golf courses at Auch or Fleurance, take to the trees on the adventure course in Pavie, or launch a canoe on the Baïse river. All of these are around a half-hour drive from the site at most.
Something gentler take your fancy? There are plenty of wineries dotted around the locale for some winey wanderings. Also good spots for a bit of wandering are the châteaux of Lavardens and Miramont-Latour, and the 12th-century Flaran Abbey.
Likewise, the centre of Auch (25 minutes away by car) is a top place for a stroll, taking in medieval streets, the UNESCO-listed cathedral and the Great Staircase (look out for the bronze statue of D’Artagnan at the foot of the steps).
