Tiptop watery days await holidaymakers here: when you’re not stretched out under your sunhat at the golden sands of the nearby beach, you’ll probably be found soaking yourself at the resort’s waterpark.
Domaine Les Mûriers lies between a handsome little harbour and a natural park, half an hour’s drive from Cap d'Agde. It extends over eight shaded hectares around which you’re pretty much guaranteed lots of water time at the pool, waterfalls and whirlpool… while the kids splash around in the fountain and paddling pools or whizz their excited selves down the waterslides.
And aside from the pool area? Among the range of other leisure facilities on offer here are a playground, multisports field and pétanque courts; in summer there’s a kids’ club for ages five to 12, and guests of all ages can get stuck into the park’s family sports and exercise programme during the week with aqua gym, stretching and muscular awakening sessions and outdoor games.
If all that sounds just a tad like too much activity, head instead for a bite to eat or a leisurely meal at the snack bar or terrace restaurant. You can pick up picnic breads from the on-site bakery to or go to the supermarket for supplies a short drive away; there’s plenty of space for alfresco eats around the resort.
For drinks head to the seasonal bar, and if you’re there in high season, stick around for evening entertainment events like dances, magic shows, cabaret and karaoke.

The nearby beach is a handy 15-minute walk away down a sandy pathway: go here for safe seaside family days, as the sand slopes gently down into the water to provide tinier ones with a safe spot to splash.
Cap d'Agde, a little over half an hour’s drive away, is a kids' paradise, with amusement parks including the waterpark Aqualand and the rides of Luna Park. There's an aquarium here too; for grownup times, make for the casino, golf course or any of the many beach bars.
For days out of a more cultured nature, more than 50 museums are in the Hérault department, or you can check out the local natural history with a delve underground at the 24 caves of Clamouse. The guided tours there cover almost a kilometre and showcase the science of the subterranean world through ambles around huge galleries hewn by the underground river and the caves’ labyrinth.
