If you want to crank your glamping adventure up a notch (or three), and if only exceptional luxury will do, Silver Fern Glamping might be the place for you. At this intimate, adults-only site 15 minutes’ drive south of Aberystwyth, in the Llanfarian area, you shall stay in elegant shepherd’s huts with cosy touches such as underfloor heating and a woodburning stove (with an initial complimentary supply of wood and kindling; more can be purchased on site). A welcome pack includes all you need for a refreshing brew (tea and coffee, plus a few extra treats); you can also buy a breakfast hamper to prepare your own full English in the well-equipped kitchen, or bring your own supplies. If you’re here for a romantic break, perhaps you'd also like to bring a bottle of bubbly? You can sip it in the stargazing bath for the most fabulous experience à deux, before retiring to your hut where a wool mattress and luxury bed linen await. When you’re ready for a little activity, all you need to do is look around: the far-reaching views across Cardigan Bay and the Cambrian Mountains ought to give you plenty of ideas for the day’s itinerary. You can head to shingly Penparcau Beach (15 minutes) and climb up to Pen Dinas Hill Fort, or stroll along the West Wales Coastal Path – the stretch between Aberystwyth and Llanrhystud goes past the wind-beaten Penderi Cliffs nature reserve, as well as breeding sites for cormorants and a seal colony. Or head inland for a day of hiking on Pumlumon Mountain (half an hour).

Gostou Great little getaway everything has being thought of to make your stay perfect would be nice to go back in summer time to use the outdoor facilities ie the outdoor bath and the dining area there was great little shop with local produce and treats

Gostou We came for a relax in the countryside and got even more than we wanted. The shepherds hut was of extremely high standards, beautifully decorated and full of thoughtful touches. The fire pit/ bbq was amazing and the area was stunning. Well done to the hosts for creating a wonderful welsh hideaway.

Gostou The site was so peaceful, perfect place to relax but not too far from Aberystwyth and New Quay. The site was clean and well kept. We loved the little honesty shop. The hut itself was perfect, cozy. It felt like every little thing had been thought of.

Gostou Just wow! Everything was fantastic and so well thought out, most luxurious glamping I’ve seen. We loved every minute. Stayed in one of the dog friendly huts and the Dog now has a new favourite place. All enclosed so the Pup could run free and two very large secure fields for a good run around. Small site but the owners were lovely and even though you are close to a major town, we always felt like we were in the middle of no where with a lot of animals, it was brill!!!

Gostou Incredible stay - the huts are luxurious and dog friendly, which is usually an impossible find!!! They really have thought of everything, from treats and bowls for the dog through to fresh milk and towel dressing-gowns for us, we cannot fault the facilities at all. They also left a birthday cake for my partner and a banner, which was such a lovely thoughtful extra! I would highly recommend staying at Silver Fern, it really is luxury glamping at its finest. Thankyou so much for such a relaxing and enjoyable stay!

Gostou What a lovely place with exceptional attention to detail and really welcoming hosts! As someone who has camped and glamped for a number of years, I'm really bad at leaving reviews, but Silver Fern was just brilliant! The little touches, like the mulled wine and doggy treats, were a lovely welcome. It is just a brilliant little luxury glamping hut that is really cosy and quite beautifully done! Despite the weather, we did get an outdoor bubble bath, which was fantastic touch! We would definitely stay again! Thank you!

A lively university town, Aberystwyth is dotted with independent shops and cafés, and it has a pretty seafront lined with pastel-coloured buildings. Take the 19th-century Aberystwyth Cliff Railway to the top of Constitution Hill, where you can take in expansive views of the coast and visit a recreated Victorian camera obscura. If you’re into birds of prey, you will not want to miss the daily red kite feeding at Bwlch Nant yr Arian Visitor Centre (25 minutes), where there are also signposted woodland walks and mountain-bike routes for all abilities, including the black-grade Syfydrin Trail. Hard-core walkers might want to head to Snowdonia National Park (one hour), with its varied landscape of mountains, forests and waterfalls. Keep an eye (and an ear) out for woodland birds like cuckoos and woodpeckers, plus wild ponies and the rare Snowdon lily flower.
