Castle Cary Holiday Park

Gostou We have stayed before but took the grandchildren this time. They loved it we went swimming lin the heated pool also an outdoor one. played crazy golf which is free, spent time in the arcade and had a lovely lunch in the on site cafe. Kids took their bikes and played out most of the time,in the evening we had booked a table at Lairds restaurant which is onsite and the meal and service was great. The staff at castle Cary are great. Then we went back to the motorhome sat outside at our very large bay and listened to the entertainment of a singer and kids played out on their bikes. The site is clean, toilets clean, dish washing facilities clean,reasonably priced for everything and some lovely walks one into creetown a nice wee Scottish village.

Não gostou The only thing I disliked was some dog owners didn’t pick up behind their dog opposite to us. There are woods to let them poo in.

Gostou Pitch size excellent plenty to do around the area . Pub food excellent.

Não gostou Toilet’s immaculate in the morning but get a bit messy later on.

Gostou We absolutely loved this campsite. The facilities, the area, the people. We had the best time and will be returning next year. The choice of indoor and outdoor pools were great. The kids loved the park. Loved the wild rabbits, geese, swans etc. We are hoping to return yearly as we loved the area. The view from the campsite was also fabulous!

Não gostou My only slight gripe would be the size of the nettles near the toilets / washing up station.

Gostou The staff here really made it for us: the young people in reception/shop were so personable, helpful and friendly - a real credit to the site. The warden, too, was friendly & helpful - we arrived a little late & our allocated pitch was lumpy & bumpy (from all the rabbit holes!) but he allowed us to take our pick of whichever pitch we liked without any bother whatsoever. Toilet facilities were clean & the en-suites were great. The dressing table & plug socket for my Dyson hairdryer was an absolute godsend after 3 days touring in a tent! And the rabbits were very cute!

Não gostou There was a large group of noisy children/teens playing football & yelling until very late. Maybe signs saying to quieten down after 10pm would be useful. But it was only one group & I guess it’s part-&-parcel of the experience!

Não gostou Staff clueless told me to ride bikes 5 minutes down a75 to get the Forrest as no cycle route but there is it’s just through the town next door to campsite didn’t find this out till we got to Forrest via a75 and 5 miles later

Gostou Whole park is so peaceful and amenities are excellent.
Perfect for the kids with the 2 pools a favourite.

Gostou The location is handy for exploring Galloway Forest.

Não gostou It's quite apparent that the Holiday Park is more interested in static vans and seasonal pitches. Seasonal vans have so made the place their home that they look tatty, with artificial turf, garden ornaments, etc. The site gives the appearance of being tired and uncared for. Fences that should have been replaced or at least painted years ago. Gravel across the site roads and not swept back onto pitch. Nobody took any notice of the 10 pmh speed limit. For touring vans there is no facility for the disposal of grey water. Saturday night music at the pub was far too loud! No wifi, or if there was I couldn't find it. If I visit the area again I won't stay here.

Gostou Friendly welcome on arrival and good customer service. The en suite bathroom facilities were great and were kept clean. Lots of wildlife to see and friendly resident animals on site too. The food at the Lairds Inn was fabulous - friendly and quick service, tasty food and dog friendly too. Didn’t make use of all the facilities, but seemed like a great place for families.
