Whatever your reason to head for the West County – beach holidays, family sightseeing, walking or watersports – Mill Paddock Campsite has got all bases covered. This small site is around 10 minutes’ drive from Jurassic Coast beaches and Monkey World - Ape Rescue Centre; it’s also right by the Purbeck Way, and only a short stroll from paddleboarding adventures along the River Frome. With no designated pitches, you can set up wherever you like on the level, well-maintained and family-friendly camping field, which has electric hook-ups and water points dotted around its perimeter. The modern facilities block houses showers, toilets and washing-up sinks – it’s cleaned regularly and there’s always plenty of hot water. There are mature trees edging the field if you’re after shade, picnic tables are provided for alfresco dining and firepits are welcome so you can all gather around and enjoy being together. Logs are available to purchase on site at a low price, and pretty everything you need for outdoor evenings can be found in the shops, pubs and restaurants of Wareham (10 minutes’ drive). Well-behaved dogs are welcome to join in all the family fun, and guest numbers are always limited so the field never feels overcrowded; this also allows a safe environment for children to play in – and there’s a treehouse for them to muck around in too.

Gostou Owners were welcoming, always a hello or friendly wave.
Clean showers & toilets. Short grass. Nicely spaced pitches. Lovely walks near by. An abundance of wildlife. The Guineafowl came & did their rounds on the last day.

Gostou The site was well laid out,grass is kept short,plenty of space for your tent and car.The shower/toilet block was kept very clean.Abby and Paul were very welcoming and helpful.Optional electric was great,first time we've done electric camping and was great value at only £20 extra.Bought the fire wood from the site which comes with everything you need(newspaper,kindling,firewood and they include the stuff you put on the fire to make it change colour!) All for £10 , excellent value for money.Great base for exploring the area.

Gostou Flat pitches, well kept grass. Friendly site with kind welcome and always friendly chats with hosts Abby and Paul who are knowledgeable about the local area. Easy to get around and short drive to shops. Fridge on site was really handy for keeping food in and also froze our ice blocks by putting them at the back which was good. Washing up area was good. Basic but relaxed and nice atmosphere to the site. Space to kick a football about or play catch. Toilets and showers always clean and well kept.

These are neither positive or negative points more an FYI -
- The field is near a train line so you will hear trains go by but we didn't mind this at all
- There is no shop or reception on site, the owners are always around though and checked in on us
- Pitches are marked out despite the listing saything they're not. We found our first pitch a bit small and didn't like being right next to someone else and in the middle of the field so we moved pitch to back onto the hedge which we preferred. It was busier at the weekend then very quiet and spread out during the week.
- Only 2 showers and 3 toilets, I never had to queue or wait though.

Não gostou The showers are not very good, weak spray from shower head and having to press the button to keep it on is a pain. Getting the right temperature is tricky and can get very hot, children needed help. The water gathered in the mens shower rather than draining away. Lots of ants in the field which may be usual for this time of year but not something we've experienced before. Kept at bay by sweeping them out and making sure all food items were kept in tupperware boxes.

Thank you on the feedback on the showers we have had a maintenance period on the showers so hopefully have sorted a few if not all of the issues you have given here now. I've also acquired some children / dog friendly pesticide so will be spraying the trees and associated pitch areas to hopefully sort the ants out too.

Didn’t use WiFi so can’t comment.

Não gostou In busy periods there isn’t enough showers or toilets. Marking down purely for the showers being more like a spray (we camp alot and sadly these are the worse showers)

Atrações locais

There are footpaths and river walks a few metres away from the site, which is on the Purbeck Way as well as the Purbeck Cycle Ride route. Paddleboarding and kayaking on the River Frome can be arranged and booked with qualified local instructors at an additional cost. If you want to dip your toes in the sea, the sandy beaches of the Jurassic Coast are calling. Studland Bay (25 minutes’ drive) has miles of sandy beach with views of Old Harry’s Rocks, and you might want to try a bit of fossil hunting at Kimmeridge Bay (20 minutes). You can also have a safe swim in the shallow waters of Lulworth Cove (15 minutes), from where you can walk to the spectacular rock arch at Durdle Door in 25 minutes. The kids should appreciate watching the animal antics at Monkey World - Ape Rescue Centre, where there are daily keeper talks, and enjoy mooching around the highly acclaimed Tank Museum at Bovington (both 10 minutes’ drive), where there are also frequent driving displays.
