Gostou Friendliness of staff, ease of pitching, cleanliness of toilets and showers, offering of fridges for storing food, drinking water tap available. Close to beach. Availability of vending machines to purchase fresh/ frozen/ chilled meats. Fruit and veg / small grocery shop on sight. Great value for money.

Não gostou Tightness of pitches. Too few washing up stations. No private sink cubicles for brushing teeth and washing. Meter for hot water at washing-up station wasn’t working accurately and although there were signs up to text Anita, this was a bit of a hassle.

All pitches are 10m x 10m, they are very generous in size and your vehicle does not need to be parked on it. Guests are pitched next to someone else, but that is to be expected on a campsite.

You have said there are no private sink cubicles for brushing your teeth and washing. I am very confused at this ! Every loo has it's own sink (the loos are private), plus there are several tooth brushing sinks on site. We can't offer any more unfortunately. We are a pop up site which is restricted by planning rules and regulations beyond our control.

I am sorry to hear that the hot water washing up sink wasn't working. As you rightly say, there is a sign above every sink, with my phone number, asking guests to let me know if there is a problem. You said it was a hassle to phone me, therefore you didn't me the opportunity to fix the problem for you !

Gostou Lovely location, lovely welcome from Anita. Yes it's a back to basics campsite so compost loo's but they are clean and there are fantastic showers. Beach in easy walking distance. The veg shed vending machines are a great idea too. Was recommended the site by family, will definitely go back there.

Gostou Flat pitch in garden field, well kept site, eco loos, hot shower available and 10 min walk to beach!

Gostou We loved it here, so relaxed with a great size pitch. I think the campsite was busy but it didn't feel like it because the pitch was such a good size. Super relaxed about having your car close too, but you don't have to have it inside your pitch.

So much fridge space for people to use and a decent amount of USB charging points. Super easy walk to the beach and a very cute little vending shop.

Our 2yo loved watching the tractors at work!

We will definitely come back and have been telling all our friends and family about it.

Não gostou I personally don't like the smell of air fresheners in a natural loo, I would just prefer the natural smell. I think the combo isn't pleasant but can appreciate some people may not like the loos without the air fresheners.

Gostou Such a lovely vibe to this campsite! The facilities were amazing and well thought out. Lovely views over the hills. The toilets were really clean and yes although a little bit of a natural smell, I have had worse in beach toilets etc. The pitch was well sized. Loved the fact they had a little pen of goats, sheep, chickens, and ducks! It was also really well located to Salcombe, and also lots of local beaches so makes a great base for exploring. We only stayed one night but would 100% come back to stay!

Não gostou Not the campsites fault but we were woken up at 1am by some noisy teenagers playing loud music walking up the lane behind the site. I am sure this is just a one off incident though!

Thank you for flagging the issue with the hot water. The water is normally very hot to the point of steaming so I will look into this as it sounds like there must be an issue with either the boiler or one of the immersions. Hope to see you again and enjoy the rest of the summer !

Gostou Pleasant site in a good position for local beaches.

Não gostou very strange shower system. Advertised 20p for a shower. Turns out this was for a one minute shower and payment was a jaunt away from the shower. By the time I paid and took off my clothes I had about a 10 second shower ! longer showers available for more money but seems a bizarre system.

I just wanted to clarify the situation regarding the showers !

No where is it advertised that a shower is 20p. I cannot see this on the Pitchup advert ?

The pre-arrival email which was sent to you clearly states under the heading of "Hot Showers" :

"Hot water is charged at 20p a minute, so £1 gives you a five minute shower. Twenty pence is normally sufficient for washing up. Please note that the hot water starts as soon as the coin is put into the meter so it is worth taking a family member or friend with you to pop the money in the meter whilst you wait in the shower ready for the water to commence ! Otherwise you will lose hot water time whilst walking from the coin meter to the shower. Coin meters are located out of the showers themselves because of health and safety reasons, where electric and water are not a great combination!

Hot water is coin operated because it is deemed the fairest way of charging whereby you pay for what you use. The alternative is to increase the price of the pitch per night. But given that some guests will not use the showers at all whilst staying with us or will shower on alternate days, this method keeps the price per night down for everyone. Shower cubicles are roomy so there is plenty of space for an adult and two children, or two adults, to shower together to keep the cost down should you so wish.

There is also a free cold shower for anyone brave enough !"

The pre-arrival email which you received also says :

"Our local council would not let us build a proper shower block because we are in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and all our facilities do have to be taken down at the end of our camping season! So this is why the showers are as they are, but you will find there is heaps of hot water, and it is hot! Unlike a lot of the campsites around us, we do have a proper boiler and immersion which provides a continuous flow of hot water. All be it basic and rustic, the showers still cost money to build, maintain and run, therefore we do have to charge for their use".

I don't think that you read the pre-arrival email which contained the site information before you came as everything is very clearly stated.

Gostou The animals (especially the goats) were cute.
The loos were great, and a good fair way of arranging the meteres hot water.
Loved the little charging/fridge/freezer shed.
