Dartmoor Shepherd's Huts

Gostou: Lovely campsite with clean and practical facilities. We particularly appreciated the rules that makes it a quiet and relaxing place to stay. We would stay there again and try one of the Huts!

Gostou: Great and beautiful place to stay for a family with children in all ages. Site is quiet which is perfect, you can really feel you are in the forest with little steam in the middle of camp site. Not far from a small lovely villages and towns. The best is that in few minutes walk from the camp site you are in the middle of Dartmoor with amazing views. We absolutely loved that. The place was lovely little house with two double bedrooms but also there were additional sleeping space. Bathroom and little kitchen area fully equipped. Every place including places for tents had had their own fireplaces which is perfect for long evenings with bbq. Easy access to additional toilets, showers and washing machine.

Não gostou: Not much space to play sport games for children.

Gostou: The camping seemed crowded, but each pitch is spacious enough to have some intimacy. We liked the stream crossing the pitch and the fire places. It was a quiet, the facilities were clean and there are plenty hiking trails in the area.

Não gostou: The pitch got muddy after the rain.

Gostou: We stayed in one of the smaller shepherd huts, greyface, it was very cosy and the bed was comfortable. The toilet block was very clean. The site was lovely and the fire pits were a nice touch.

Gostou: Everything about this place was amazing! From directions on how to get there, being able to park near our cabin and the cabin itself!! Finding somewhere to stay as a family of 6 can be a challenge, but our Huck cabin was perfect and a really reasonable price. The cabin was a really good size and had everything we needed. Kitchen was really well stocked with plates, crockery and utensils. All the furnishings were lovely quality, comfortable and clean. The rest of the site was also absolutely beautiful, such a lovely location. My kids loved playing in the stream and dont have to go far to get some stunning views over the moors! We sadly could only stay for 1 night, but have already said we will book again for next year!

Não gostou: Only negatives were the kettle was very loud in the kitchen and as one of the bedrooms was open plan yo the kitchen it did wake people up. Also the top bunk bed was extremely close to the ceiling and felt quite claustrophobic so nobody wanted to sleep on it. The bottom bunk had loads of room for an adult to sit up under though, so something that could be adjusted possibly? No WiFi or reception, but was nice to have a break from this.

Gostou: Very picturesque and scenic. The huts are really nice and a campfire for each hut/pitch is a nice touch. We put away our phones and had a real relax. Really liked the fact that the site is very quiet. Also a dark skies spot which is wonderful for star gazing

Gostou: Well situated campsite, so children have plenty to explore. Pitches are spacious and have fire pits. Toilet block is kept clean all day round and there is hot shower. Also, lights are placed along the paths so after dusk it is easier to walk to the toilets/kitchen. Very well organised! Also very nice walks around and cute villages with delish Red Devon cider!

Não gostou: Washing machine and tumble dryer were broken when we were there. Not a problem for a short stay, but a bit of a hurdle with children on a longer stay.

Gostou: Excellent locations. Great toilets and showers. Huge, well maintained spaces for tent/van.
