Coast, countryside and city time are all easily accessible from Bowness on Solway Camping and Glamping… and this Cumbria park is also just a short way from the M6 and the England/Scotland border, making it a handy spot for a stopover on long journeys north or south too. This smart modern complex (part of the Hunter Leisure Group) is within the Solway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, about 20 minutes’ drive from Wigton. The location is an excellent one for days out along this quiet stretch of coast, visits to the city of Carlisle or time spent exploring the northern stretches of the Lake District National Park. Facilities at this park have been particularly well thought out… there’s a well-equipped gym that guests can use for an extra charge, and a bistro and bar where you can undo all the good work you’ve just done. If you don’t need a full meal, steer instead to the tuck shop to pick up ice creams, soft drinks, slushies and alcoholic drinks. Everything has been set up to be accommodating to as wide a range of guests as possible – facilities are accessible for less mobile guests, and those travelling with dogs are welcome (they even sell doggie ice cream in the shop…)

Gostou The facilities are fantastic. The shower room and loos are great. There’s even a gym if you want to pay a small fee to use it.
Well located too. Really interesting place and I caught the bus into Carlisle from just across the road.
Lovely people too.

Gostou Very clean site, good toilet/shower block, friendly staff, nice walks, WiFi signal wasn't great (which is a positive for me to switch off from online).

Gostou Although we only had one night camping at Bowness House Farm, we fell in love with the place. We watched the beautiful sunset at the point of the beginning / end of Hadrians wall. (5 mins walk away) We walked around the village and chatted to the friendly locals, and were given a lovely background history, by a local lady, of the stunning church, and the stories of a couple of residents in the graveyard!!! Had a great evening meal in the restaurant and a couple of G&T’s on the Terrace….

Gostou Calm and clean site with good facilities. We stayed as a group for just one night. It was a busy weekend with many people. As advertised, the site is small

Não gostou I generally do not say anything negative, but the entire staff and the team was so hostile to our group. Restaurant food was not worth it at all. Sorry Michelle and team for calling this out, I don’t want others to have a poor experience like us

Gostou Nice hard standing spot with grass overlooking the field. Toilets and showers very good and clean with another room for washing up and even a washing machine. Great customer service. Had my questions answered promptly. Friendly staff. Nice bistro and bar and outside seating. Short walk to the beach., great for dog walking. Overall, had a lovely stay.

Would definitely recommend.
We used the gravel area with electric hook-up for camper vans. £55 for 2 nights with electric hook-up up. But from observation there were many other ways to stay.
The bar/restaurant is clean, service was excellent, menu was extensive and when delivered was plenty and hot, as eat in or take away to your own camper etc.
The toilet/shower block was clean, showers were hot, hairdryers worked.
The utility area had sinks to wash pots, drink water, microwave, kettle and washer/dryer.
We loved the peaceful surroundings.

If it’s the wilder side of the coast that attracts you, take your binoculars along to see what you can spot at RSPB Campfield Marsh nature reserve (five minutes’ drive). More of a sandy stroll and paddling type? Aim for beaches in Allonby or Silloth (both half an hour), both long sandy beaches with good waves for watersports action. To see some bigger animals, head off for hands-on sessions at Walby Farm Park (half an hour) or get to know gibbons, zebra and snakes at the Lake District Wildlife Park (40 minutes). If history's more your thing, a day out in Carlisle (half an hour) should provide plenty of fodder in the form of the castle, cathedral and Tullie House Museum. If you’ve not got kids in your party, tours and tastings at The Lakes Distillery (35 minutes) and Annandale Distillery (45 minutes) might be on the cards. Or how about surprising the folk back home by coming back with a little something from Gretna Green (half an hour), that well-known elopement destination?
