Looking for a peaceful spot where you don’t have to sacrifice the luxury of nearby pubs and restaurants? Head to Cheshire site Marbury Camp and Lodge, where you can look out over the Cheshire Plain by day and devour pub grub by night – the team on site can point you towards gin evenings and excellent curries… a winning combo after a day of exploring. Speaking of exploring, there are enough walks and bike routes around to ensure you get your fill of countryside. The site is right on a national cycle route so make sure you pack your bike helmet – the site owners can help with bike hire and a map of the local cycle routes too. If walking is more your thing you can link up with the Sandstone Trail for 34 miles of unbroken, and often elevated, walking. The outdoor adventures don’t stop there, as this place is a great base for golfing, shooting and fishing as well, with all found within around four miles of the site. Worn out just by reading the activities dotted around? There’s also plenty to do if you’re after a more chilled day. The nearby local market towns of Whitchurch (three miles away) and Nantwich (eight miles) have various market days and plenty of shopping, eating and drinking options. Supplies can also be sourced closer to home in the village of Wrenbury, a mile away. Site amenities include a shower block and chemical disposal, and there's also the option to hire firepits (subject to availability).

Gostou Liked that we could check in before arrival and then just drive to any available pitch. Pitches clearly marked. Site is clean and well maintained and was the perfect getaway for my friend and I to spend some time together. The walk to the pub took around 35 mins and was great. A lovely break and I’ll definitely return with my husband.

Thanks for the review. Apprecate the comments about the amazing views and good facilties.

Sorry you didn't like the cost of the fire pits. We charge £25 for hire for the duration of your stay, which includes circa 20kg of logs, a big bag of kindling, fire lighters and matches. A bag of logs even at a supermarket is pushing £8-10 now, and a bag of kindling £6, so that's about £22 - £24, then add the costs of manufacturing the pits ( we make them ), cleaning them, repairing them, refilling them - we think £1 is a bargain. Oh and we've vat registerered, so we only receive circa £21. Further still, if you pre-book, you get a discount. Further still, we've about to be spanked by Rachel Reeves with a vat hike, so the prices will be going up again. Yay! Vote Labour!

As to no coffees or pizzas, that's not quite right. We can do coffees and pizzas any time we are on site. In the Autumn/Winter we won't sit 7 days a week in the office with the door open for 2 campers on site. That's why there's a big sign and your welcome email says to message us on WhatsApp so we can assist. We live on site so we're always around. Sorry it that wasn't made clear. There are at least 4 messages / large signs statign this.

Gostou The camping site is really nice and well looked after with lots of space and pitches. The owners where really nice and helpful.

Não gostou Dislike that the toilets and showers where in the same unit. Was getting a shower and the smell was so bad.
The power supply could do with be a bit more powerful.

Thanks for the review. It's not really practical for us to have seprate shower and loo units - we were lucky to get the planning permission for the unit we did. Most small sites have a combined shower/toilet block. It's not really fair to give us a lower score because of someone else's bottom sausage deposit. Would you mark a campsite down if someone broke wind in the shower cubicle next to you? The units are well ventilated and checked multiple times a day to make sure they are clean and smell nice. Not sure what else we could do.

Also, the showers are pumped to 3.5 bar which is pretty powerful. We don't want to cause any injuries by jetwashing customers.

Gostou Very clean site, tranquil and peaceful. Owner was very pleasant, chatty and helpful. Site has wooden bences on every pitch which is a very nice touch. Fire pits you can hire make all the difference with plentiful supply of decent dry wood to burn

Não gostou Didn't dislike anything, we plan to return next season but if I was to make one suggestion it would be a climbing frame for kids to enjoy or a small park....nothing extravagant just something to help occupy little kids with no siblings

Atrações locais

Marbury Camp and Lodge is on the National Cycle Network's Route 47, a fine option for leisure riders, serious biking types and all those in between. There are also walks in all directions, with the Sandstone Trail walkers’ haven around 12 miles from the site. For a spot of sightseeing, set out to soak up the culture at a number of churches and castles nearby. For some gothic architecture head to Combermere Abbey (around 10 minutes' drive) or Cholmondeley Castle Gardens (about 15 minutes). The medieval Beeston Castle (20 minutes) comes with spectacular views and a 40-acre woodland park to amble about in. Several of the surrounding towns have a lot to offer here. As well as Whitchurch there's also Nantwich (15 minutes), known for its listed buildings and annual cheese show (yum). Crewe is also a short drive away (about half an hour) if you still haven’t got your fill of eating, drinking, shopping and sightseeing.
